American moving to london soon … is £1000 a month on rent reasonable with flat mates?

Yeah, furnished in a decent building and area?

Depends upon the area/type of house and how many people but yes it’s reasonable (might not get you the best of place though)

£1000 doesn’t go far in terms of rent in london it’s slight above average. I would budget for £1200 if you can afford it

So that’s London Bridge so basically anything south will work great for you, loads of places that have trains to LB in 15/20 mins!

Yes i think it's doable - probably with 2 roommates. It's above a typical student budget but not by much so your expectations should be aligned to that. I would look at zone 3/4 to get a good quality flat but slightly further from city centre (e.g. Stratford, Acton, Clapham, etc.).

Yes this is pretty standard

It’s good, but you might want to budget for bills and council tax which is around £250 approx

Hackney, Dalston, London Fields are cheaper than Zone 1 but well connected and really chill/fun neighborhoods

Yeah you can definitely make that work. South London (e.g. Clapham, Balham, Brixton, Bermondsey) are all feasible.

I currently make 78k at Lockheed but I’m not doing what I’d like to be doing and i felt stuck and after many conversations with my manager and no solution in sight, I started applying elsewhere. I just recently got an offer from a smaller AI company for 95k that I plan to accept. I’m happy to make the jump, I just don’t know how my manager/coworkers will react when I tell them I’m leaving.

Q for the WFH home office pros.. What's the best way to set up a station if I would like 2 external monitors for my laptop (have 1 monitor rn but plan to purchase another), but I also have a desktop pc that I would like to be able to switch my monitors to when not on my laptop?
With my current setup of 1 monitor, I have to unplug the hdmi from the laptop and plug to the desktop each time I need to use the desktop, but it's not convenient so want to see if there's a convenient way to set this up?

Have 4 YOE in different industries but no M&A experience specifically. Any ideas what company should be offering me? Hey gang, what’s an acceptable amount of time to wait before following up on a 3rd round of interviews?

I had my second one several weeks ago, and they said they were going to let everyone know about the 3rd round on the week of 11/28.

I haven’t heard back yet, but it is the holidays which often slows everything down, so I’m hesitant to come off as naggy

I have received an offer from a Big4.
In my resume I have mentioned my last role with EY (Senior) and true total tenure with EY (2018-2021) and have mentioned my promotion dates in bullet points but I have not mentioned that I started as an analyst (assuming it was self explanatory). What do I do now ?
The title goes as EY- Senior - (2018-2021) and the first bullet point mentions the date of promotions.
Am I in trouble ?

Does anyone know the difference in London/ regional weighting at D for C/SC level (consulting)?

I have an offer to join a Tier 2 consulting firm next year (entry level). However, it seems like they have over-hired and they are now pushing the start date back by a few months. This is not great in itself, as I handed in my notice to my current employer last week, but I was wondering if I should be concerned about further pushbacks or even them withdrawing the offer. Is this something that happens, or will it just be a delay as they say?

Anyone from Oliver Wyman willing to refer?

Bombed an interview today with a boutique advisory firm. Been an IT Auditor for the last six years, and whilst I don't necessarily hate the work, the firm and people aren't great. Keen on moving to 1st or 2nd line of defence roles but it's one rejection after the other.

Anyone got good success stories help to cheer me up?

How strict are UK firms with the “3 months notice” for resignations? I’m not looking to leave, but if I did it would be to go back home to the US, where it would be difficult to get an employer to wait 3+ months from an offer to start date. Can your employer do anything/would be be very unprofessional to resign with only a month or so of notice in the UK?
