Dumb question, but how do you actually give notice to your firm when lateraling away? Do you email hr, or just tell the partners you work with and assume they'll raise it with the necessary people? Also, is a phone call/email too informal and should I be attempting to try and catch people in person? Thanks in advance. First time lateraling out so not sure on the logistics.
Would you leave a big 4 to go to smaller company? This is in consulting. At current company on partner track but could be 5-7 years and at smaller company ($1b rev) it would be 1-2 years. Partner comp is similar (top Partner obviously make alot more at big4). 75% raise. Lobe my current company and team. Nervous company is too small and staff may be lesser skilled. Would you move? Nothing is guaranteed of course on Partner track. Would you only leave if it's Partner role not just MD?
Currently an OCM Associate with 2.5 YOE in consulting & 1 YOE experience in sales and going up for promotion to SA in May/June. Received a Senior Consultant offer from Cognizant that puts TC about 35-40% higher than current TC. Has anyone worked in the OCM practice at Cognizant / have any thoughts about growth, current TC vs offer, etc?
Reasonable wait time on a Rolex explorer 1? No established relationship with an AD. Would be looking to purchase in the fall after promotion (fingers crossed)
How do you raise kids to be personally driven?
I am grateful for what I make. I made $5K/year pre-tax in my first job and currently make >30x. That doesn't mean I shouldn't be disappointed by my raise that doesn't even beat inflation.
Strategy Consultant - Currently making $175 base as a 3yr Sr. Mngr. Very happy w my current firm, however I’v had multiple recruiters reach out w/ 200+ base roles. Any advice on how to negotiate a raise at the current firm without burning any bridges? Do I need to have a counter offer in my back pocket?
Looking for some advice. Do you pursue a project opportunity with uncertain future but in an area that interests you, or stick with a long term project / client pipeline with clear path to promotion?
How to know if you’re not made for consulting? Dont see manager promotion happening as I hate people pleasing and talking. I am a huge introvert. A product manager role in tech might be better. Thots?
Hi! I’m being offered a promotion to VP of product at a digital agency. It would be my first role at this level and I’m feeling really lost as to what I can negotiate/ ask for other than a higher salary. Any help or advice would be really appreciated!
Happy to have just received my promotion to senior manager after a very challenging year, backed by an even more challenging year prior. I've got my own beliefs what a senior manager does, or should do. I'm keen to hear transition challenges others have gone through when becoming a senior manager.
Come to PwC as an expirenced hire Senior in Assurance. Is there somewhere the bonuses scheme is explained on the intranet? I feel like it’s a weird topic to raise with new my new co workers.
New to options trading, been following this bowl a while and trying to get educated with courses on options alpha and TD Ameritrade. How many of yall are able to make consistent extra income from options trading? I’m not expecting BC wins but was hoping after some practice for a little side income to make the no raise year a little less painful. Just wondering if it’s more of a gamble then anything except for the exceptional few...
Does your firm provide an automatic raise each year of practice? Would you request for a raise if you have done exceptionally well and are paid below industry standards or is it just not the year to do so due to the pandemic?
What’s a normal raise for a first year associate? I made 74K as a first year at a small, local defense firm. Wondering if my raise was below standard.
Trying to understand what is the hype around emails for mid-year market correction. It is is just eligibility email. Criteria has been well defined and communicated by leadership. Correct me if I am wrong but isn’t everyone who meets DOJ cut-off and is not in PIP will receive the raise? Everyone needs to relax a bit IMO.
As social distancing continues and busy season approaches us, anyone interested in doing a virtual accountability group? I’ll have a excel google doc we share minutes exercised, record productivity, health eating ect then every other week we do a virtual happy hour 🍻?

Firm happy hour tonight and it’s 10 miles away. Got to drop off bags at the hotel first. Not my home office. Tons of personal work to do. Not feeling it. Yay or nay?
Are there staff/seniors/managers here that are looking to leave B4 and go to smaller/midsize public accounting firms? Or does everyone generally want to leave for industry?
Please help. I was laid off last week. I am international and my OPT is coming to an end very soon. I had a call with an immigration lawyer, Deloitte unfortunately does not offers additional support for immigrants aside from said call. I am in need of a job ASAP. I have until July 24th to find a job or I will have to start a new educational program or leave the US. Personally, leaving the US is not viable. Skills: AWS Solutions Architect Associate, PowerBI/data viz, SQL, blockchain (cont.)
When you leave the firm what happens to your Amex points ? I also have a personal Amex card, can I transfer the points from my corporate card to the personal account ?
To managers and senior managers in big 4, how do you support your seniors to be promoted to manager? I have a senior manager on a big job, who always talks over me and once I explain something he always reexplains it as though I never explained it properly which brings my confidence down. Should I be more assertive and ask him why he is doing it?
Starting to get more involved in the project sales process - any recommendations for books or resources to develop skills in this area?
Assuming promotion this year, is it easier to transfer to FDD internally or to another big 4? I'm in risk advisory with my CPA and am aware this is a tough switch, especially now with covid.
Is there any way to retain my Delta platinum for next year? I will hit the annual spend requirement through my flights, but only 60-80% of the MQM or MQS requirement.
Hi sharks, I am appearing for the interview process at Nagarro for the position of senior front-end developer (ReactJS). I have cleared the IQ & coding round as well as the first tech interview. EY OTS recruiter has reached out. Growth trajectory sounds appealing but I couldn't find any previous posts for comp at SM/D level (what's the level before partner)? What's a typical all-in range?
It's great when your project manager messages you at 5:30 telling you "shit hit the fan in QA" when the project was due at 5! #not #willbealongnight
