An external recruiter reached out, in the initial contact he asked what I currently make and never shared the comp range. I was at the tail end of Covid and didn’t think to ask, plus I shared my current comp (I know better!) that was already quite low for my experience. I asked today last interview to find the range. Recruiter responded that he thinks he put me in at the same exact amount. How should I address this? I was already under pd and this new role is more demanding.
If it’s a recruiter that’s not affiliated with a company, they get paid more when they place employees with a higher salary. Reconnect with them and ask the range.
Similar situation. I was transparent with my recruiter what I’m looking for. It was unclear the comp. Then it was believed it can be negotiated for a higher OTE. Now the OTE at the potential company disclosed there’s no room for negotiation. It’s the same comp range 😔 as I am now. There goes time wasted and perhaps a burned bridge(s).
