Rsm, very thoughtful post. Either way, there are many medical possibilities for why someone is obese without them being lazy/eating too much. Hypothyroid issues for one or some medications. My friend was put on a drug once for another reason and gained 50 lbs without a change in diet or exercise habits. Obviously, she was switched off of it, but that isn't always an option.
If you see that she suffers from her weight - regardless of why she is suffering just give the seat up. If she asks in a nasty tone then don't give it up. A women once asked me for my seat and she was quite grande and was holding some McDonald burgers and a shake but she asked nicely so I said go ahead.
Then you don't know how she's disabled. Give up the seat. Kindness is contagious.
We all need to stop being dicks to each other. All these posts about plotting to get people fired and telling their firm that a coworker was in an adult film. When did being decent to each other go out of style?
Or, chemo drugs have packed on weight. Or steroids for pulmonary issues and now she's obese AND can't breathe. Giving up the seat could be the one act of kindness she needs to keep going. Or, she could just be playing you. Giving her the seat would make me feel better.
Make America Decent Again
She might have knee/joint probs. due to carrying all that weight.
PwC 2. Your post reminded me of Obamas speech to Canadian Parliament earlier this week. People need to be more decent to each other.
Almost all of you are assholes
I'm not a fan of obesity, but being an inconsiderate human being isn't going to solve the obesity problem in the US. Give up the seat, and revel in the fact that your life is a thousand times better than theirs, if that's what you need to do. They're possibly having a worse day than you.
Come on!!! What does being an obese has to do with getting the front seat? Was the shuttle full? She is taking advantage of her situation it seems
Personally I feel that common courtesy would always be to fill in the back of the shuttle first and leave the front seats for passengers who arrive later so they don't have to crawl over people to get in.
150 million Americans have a "thyroid" problem...
I'm surprised nobody asked yet, but just for clarification did she specifically say that being obese was her physical limitation or did she only say can you give me my seat due to my physical limitation? Which leaves the door open that obesity may not be the limitation she is referring to.
Point well taken - I think she should've been polite and humbly requested - demanding was not right at all. Thanks for the clarification.
Based on the clarification her only disability is she sounds like a bitch. I would not have moved and dint think anyone should have.
OP the answer to your question is just like any work paper, it depends. Haha
Fer sure.
I feel your anger.
No way give up your seat. It's common decency to offer your seat not for someone to demand it
Maybe if the person has to walk to the back they'll get a few more steps in and burn more calories to centrally overcome their obesity. OP would be doing a disservice by giving up the seat
