100% feel this. Been here almost a year completely virtual, and I'm booked to a project that won't travel for another year. Really discouraging

like

I would give it a few more months if you’re going back in the office/traveling soon, and see if you enjoy it more. But if you don’t then it’s more than acceptable to look for a new job because you can easily explain in an interview that consulting wasn’t for you

like

Great call. Of course have hope that being in the office helps, but fear that travel won’t be as accessible as we think (covid resurgence gives firms excuse to cut down on travel again). I want to stay in consulting but don’t see many benefits in the near future

This is very true. I’d make your voice known to leadership on this. The more they hear this, the sooner they are going to open Deloitte University, pay for happy hours, etc

Started in Jul 2020 and all the homies and I are burnt out. The only thing keeping me for 2 years is that I can go elsewhere with a large bump in salary

like

I so hope this happens with me too 😂

The salary progression is very quick and the exit ops are nice too

I’m in a similar boat except the work is easy enough for me that I rarely need to work more than 50hrs/week. I don’t really feel like I’m being challenged intellectually and feel a bit disappointed with the lack of a sense of community. What’s stopping me from leaving is the idea that I can have good pay with relatively stable career progression for several years and focus on enjoying my life outside of work for a while. It seems like a big risk to give up what I have to go to a job that sounds more interesting or grad school.

I just left the Firm after feeing this way for the last year. We’ll see if the grass is greener, but the WLB sure is better.

Same thing happening, but am traveling in a week. Giving myself till next Jan (2 year mark) to decide

I don’t even know if we get that

I’m having a great experience being 100% remote. Wishing you get a better team and work life balance

I feel you. All the 2020 interns got jaded with a small signing bonus, had the internship cut short (less $$) and the interns this year are getting a $10k bonus 🙄

I got 80 +14.5k bonus as a BTA summer scholar in 2019

The question now is if leaving after a year on the job will look bad

You’re allowed one or two short stints. It should be pretty easy to explain to a recruiter but I doubt anyone will think twice

Back again with a question for the McKinsey folks! 1. Is it true that if you are internal (specifically PD) you are not eligible for a performance bonus? Just base and the 401K profit sharing? 2. I know McKinsey offers a percentage of your salary into a retirement fund. The recruiter painted it as a range (from 7-12%), but other fish in the main consulting bowl said it’s either 7 OR 12% (no in between) based off of if you’re client facing or internal - which is true?
