Is this only for accredited investors? Also, is there a minimum requirement?

Accredited investors. You have to attest to this. There is no minimum. Check sizes can be as small as $1k for many deals.

How are you credibly competing for deals without committed capital?

I can’t speak for other syndicates but we have over 1,500 members, including family offices. We are generally able to commit to an amount and fill that within a week. We have close relationships with the founders we work with through our networks. We have worked as operators and professional VCs.

What is the carry fees?

I’m not sure I completely understand the question, there are rarely any third party brokers involved in early-stage deals. We nearly always partake in primary offerings and sometimes we will invest in secondary if it is particularly attractive. All deals come from previous entrepreneurs we’ve funded, our LP base, or our co-investors which can be institutional VCs.

Finally watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It didn’t say anything that we didn’t already know about social media and big tech, but it’s still alarming and worth the watch. The biggest question I have after watching is why do people still romanticize FAANG? Is just purely the money and prestige? Are we selling our soul for a highly regarded exit opportunity? Just curious.

My best friend is an immigrant. She has lived in the USA for ten years now and has a great career. However she says america is very lonely. Her fellow immigrant friends from different countries also say this. She says culture here is friendly but distant and ppl are too wrapped up in their home life and less so in their social life. She misses daily socializing that was a norm in her home country. I’ve lived here all my life so can’t judge but curious as to whether other immigrants here agree

Did anyone use a client for a letter of recommendation? Curious what types of things they wrote about for the constructive feedback question since they don’t provide you with a formal performance review like a supervisor would? I’m considering asking a client for a recommendation, but her feedback was typically targeted to specific deliverables so feeling unsure if she would be able to answer that question well...

Anyone just getting tired of their partner on a whole new level with WFH? I feel like we are getting into spats more, I'm getting more resentful of the lack of even workloads/effort, and to top it all off these tensions are literally invading my personal space! Not looking for advice really. Just wondering if anyone else is feeling partner fatigue more now than the Before Times.
