Just got hired by BCG as an experienced hire, consultant position. What should I expect in my first few weeks? Would i be staffed on a project immediately or would i have to spend some time going through mandatory trainings? I heard they have a training program in Chicago. Is it applicable for experienced hires as well? Boston Consulting Group

W/L - depends on your supergroup but mine is extremely supportive of this and overall positive
Benefits - good health insurance with different options, gym, phone, 401k match immediately, vacation days depend on your time here, at 5 years become a sabbatical (I think 3 months?) with $5k to spend ... plus you’re at a top agency making amazing work with crazy talented people ... must I go on?
Yes, creatives! Hmm I actually don’t know of any bad/worst groups. It’s really about what kind of work you want to do and what you can bring to the table. People do work really hard, but it’s because we want to.
If we want to leave early that’s cool too, no one expects you to be here late if you get your stuff done. It’s not a 9-5 or anything but the general attitude is work smart, not hustle for the sake of it. And if something’s not right and it’s hurting creatives/their well-being, it’s addressed and fixed. Sometimes that means letting clients go.
What I will say as far as who’s a good fit here in general is that the expectations are high. You’re expected to have the right attitude, ambition, be forthcoming and kind...
I hope that helps a bit?
I do know of an open CD position right now. Also once you’re hired you’re immediately given 15 days PTO (personal days included to my understanding, but regardless, really great) and your birthday is an extra day of PTO you can take off! We also can bring dogs to work and have a full service, beautiful, huge in-office bar with Thirsty Thursday’s where we get free drinks from an in house bartender. We have amazing, fancy, fun holiday and summer parties and a wonderful week long event called “Anomaly Week” to celebrate the company’s anniversary where its a full week of really fun team building activities (like human bowling, karaoke contests, trivia etc) where everyone gets to know one another better and we have special catered events every day, (last year they brought in magicians, comedians and my favorite day they brought in circus performers which was TIGHT.) Its just an all around amazing place that I think really fosters creativity, passion and most importantly team work. Everyone is so awesome and a great person to be around.
@A2 your summary is 💯 👊👊
Well who do I need to meet then? Also, my dog is amazing and will be a great addition.
Someone at Anomaly would help for sure, getting a recommendation from someone inside when you reach out to HR is key.
Man, those are some good benefits.
Yes, please go on. Seriously .
Damn. Time to start making moves
I love anomaly week, but those circus performers were terrifying lmfao. The mimes especially. Also, just for clarity, the sabbatical is 1 month (but still awesome, obviously).
@Anomaly 3 lol true the mines were pretty terrifying
Which group (or groups) are supportive of W/L balance and which aren’t ? Also, does this apply to the creative department?
Thank you!
What else would you like to know?
Yes, if you feel comfortable sharing, would love to know which groups are best / worst with work / life. Appreciate it!
This is very interesting! Are you looking for CDs?
@CD I don’t believe so. It’s referral-only so maybe get to know some people there
But hey, which anomaly we’re talking here? Haha
I’m talking about New York. Our other offices are very small with the exception of London.
