Another good reminder for all the clients/brand managers/media strategists/etc that when a social media company wants to advertise they don’t do it on digital/social channels. We shouldn’t be either, at least not as much. Their metrics of clicks/eye balls/whatever the fuck are a total lie and we’re destroying ourselves.

Then why are you wasting your time posting your opinion on a social media platform? Shouldnt you be handing out fliers at your local coffee shop? Or maybe write an op/ed in your local paper? You know, non digital/social channels?
Also, spend 5 minutes on Facebook today and you’ll see about a billion TikTok ads. This “pandemic safety campaign” is nothing more than thinly veiled social cause award show fodder that will get exactly zero new users for brand.
You can’t judge media mix just through these executions tho. The idea may have been executed on billboards, sidewalks, etc but the way it will be disseminated/made mass will be through social channels and PR.
Exactly. I saw this on twitter initially.
if you wanted to attract people to check out twitter, would you use a twitter ad or an ad elsewhere?

traditional media isn’t dead, it’s just that there are way more options now. just because you hate digital doesn’t change that 95% of the world is paying attention on it.
but like someone else said, if you want to gain new users, would you advertise on your own platform?

Damn. You should be a strategist
I think the OP is just trying to say that we shouldn’t be so focused on digital/social channels exclusively. Some people in this industry think it should just be all digital/social. Maybe OOH or a print ad or a TV spot is more effective. I’ve seen some really awesome ads on the subway that are way more effective than a social video.
