It seems partners are much more flexible with associates who have kids than with those who don’t. If it’s okay for my colleague with a kid to leave at 5 pm and log on later, why isn’t that the same for me (no kids)? My obligations might be different, but I still have a life and want to be able to do certain things, like catch that evening workout class or cook dinner for my partner. As you can probably tell, my firm is operating 100% in person. There is no point here — I’m just whining.

My District decided to initiate a “no zero policy” starting now. I was informed by administration that when a student does not turn in their work, I still have to give the student a fifty percent even though that student didn’t earn it. I teach sixth graders and I am not sure how I feel about this. Any words of advice?

My house got egged and tped over the weekend. Is 210 enough to live an upper middle class life in Dallas? Not trying to come off as shallow just genuinely trying to understand. Have a $300K offer in NJ and $210k offer in Dallas (single income, small family) and want to make sure I’m able to give my family a great life. Dallas seems like amazing place to raise a kid, but it’s also not as cheap as everyone seems to think. The houses we want are $650-$700K range. Insight appreciated

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t want kids. Never have, & would be really surprised if I ever do. My SO & I have had discussions about this & he’s on board (I wanted to make sure I wasn’t selfishly preventing him from being able to experience that if that’s what he wanted). We love our fur baby, & I’m happy to spoil my friends’ kids, nieces, nephews, etc. I’m happy with my decision but it irritates me to no end when people say “you’ll change your mind.” Anyone else experience this?

What is your paternal leave policy? Do you have a parental leave policy for all employees or a maternity policy for birthing parents and then a parental policy on top?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand why teachers refer to the students as "friends"?

So I’m really not sure how to react to this. A lifelong friend who can’t have kids (testicular injury when he was young) asked me if I would be a donor. Him and his wife really want kids, and he’s adamant that if given the choice between a bank/unknown donor and a friend he would choose the friend. I’m leaning yes because I’ve known them both for a long time and love them both; I’m just not sure how I’d feel long term knowing I’m a biological father. Advice?

Many teachers have said that they are burned-out. Can you please be specific about what is burning you out? For me, it’s students who are constantly unwilling to do any work.

I’m pregnant, scared, and afraid to tell my partner. Neither of us want a baby right now but I’m scared terminating the pregnancy would ruin our relationship (i’ve heard stories of some men having resentment about it). At the same time we’re not ready to have a baby and that won’t help either. i just feel like this might be the beginning of the end of our relationship so part of me just wants to handle the is on my own. idk what to do.

Just heard that my district will have classroom and live-recording learning. I’m thankful because I now can feed my family, my newborn and a recent-sponsored wife! I’m scared because I’m almost 50 and I’m afraid I might catch the virus and die leaving behind my 1 month baby and a wife who is not legal in the state yet! The USCIS or Trump’s dept. thinks she’s not good enough to be in the US!! We applied for green card and SS card since August 2019!

Married woman with a 2 year old kid and found out last week that my husband has been cheating on me for the last 1 year with a coworker who lives in the same apartment complex. Feel like a fool as we all meet socially (she is married too, without kids) and we have had them over at our place so many times (part of our Covid bubble). Turns out those “gym sessions”were just ways to get action. Her husband went to work as essential worker so basically had the the place to themselves. Devastated
