Getting burnt out. When am I supposed to justify taking pto?

I hear of UX/Product designers that make 120k out of school and recruiters are throwing out numbers even greater than that. No visibility into what my coworkers are making so I’m here.

I have 8 years of design experience in addition to design education, 3 of those years are in UX/Product design. I’m making $102k, med/vis/dental, up to 6% 401k match, unlimited PTO and options worth ~10k vested in a couple years. Bonus last year was ~10%. NYC startup.

Any United health group remote employees here? I recently accepted an accounting job and some of the onboard makes it seem like I’m only allowed to work from my home office. I usually spend a few weeks a year out of town visiting family and work during this time so I don’t have to use PTO but I’m nervous I won’t be allowed to do that anymore

Any thoughts on working at Raytheon? Particularly curious about vacation, 401k match, parental benefits, typical merit, and overall career progression.

How do I politely hint at a guy I have just started seeing that he is moving to fast? We have only been seeing each other for a couple of weeks and not had any sort of exclusiveness discussions or anything but he is texting and expecting replies multiple times a day (I am currently on vacation away from the city we both live in), planning trips together in several months, letting me know how much he likes and misses me several times a day. I like him but I am starting to feel very overwhelmed.

Question for folks in here who work at a company with unlimited PTO/vacation - how do you manage this from being abused by employees?

If you were in a private company assistant controller position being offered $10k more to switch over to public and much better PTO days and fully remote as opposed to an in office position that I’m currently at in a Real estate growing company. Would u do the switch back to public (left public just recently)?

Anybody have to take time off for long-covid? How has your HR handled it? I feel like any info I have gotten on FMLA and disability is because I’ve brought it up and have had to follow up multiple times.

I am at a DoD focused startup that is drafting their military leave policy.

Our PTO is Flexible Leave = they don’t track days worked in return for days off

The draft military leave policy:
- 2 weeks of annual AT can be flex leave
- 2 days allocated a year for PT test

I previously worked at Deloitte and loved their military leave policy, so I am pushing for 2 weeks of AT allowed and 80 hours a year for travel to drill/medical appts/misc days you have to meet active counterparts.

Thoughts?

I have an offer for a newly created collections strategy project manager at a mid sized credit union for $95k, 7-9% bonus, and 3 weeks PTO.

I did ask to go up to $100k, but was told my offer was already above the target range.

With that in mind, is the week of Memorial Day a great choice since people will have the additional day off, or rude since people might have other plans? He said that it becomes clear to them after the technical and that there is a 3rd round with director but their process never goes to that. passed the technical very successfully but now i have been invited for the 3rd round to present a project .Have they made a decision and I’m invited just as a backup choice?
