Any Accenture people know if it negatively impacts you to be on an Accenture Federal Services project if you're not AFS? The project seems interesting but not sure how different AFS is?

Near impossible to transfer out of afs if they transfer you in.

In my opinion it's best to avoid AFS unless you really want to be there long term. I came from AFS and it was brutal trying to get out.

like

The big issue is that AFS and Accenture are 2 separate entities due to legal requirements. People in AFS do not have access to commercial offices (or floors in the same office) and vice versa and email handles are different (Accenture.com vs Accenturefederal.com). I don't think it's necessarily bad to try a project, but make sure that won't lead to you transferring to AFS (unless that's your goal)

Revenue goes to AFS obviously so there's that. Second, chances of your career counselor (or anyone senior in your group, for that matter) giving two shits as to your success, failure, impact is slim to none. The only benefit that you might get would be any positive review from co workers. Look at it this way: you perform the exact same way on a commercial project coded to your group and this project, obviously the probability is far higher to see benefits for the project coded to your team.

Thanks-good to know!

Govt is awful. Unless there's a reason you are doing it/want to do it, avoid it like the freaking plague.

ExAFS here... avoid AFS like the fucking plague

I took a transformation lead role in industry a year go. However, my role is de facto program manager lead per internal job title. However, I wear multiple hats. I have a small team of project mgrs and oversea the deployment of transformation initiatives. I also manage the financials (cost savings) for the transformation and report that up to CFO. How do I position this experience for new opportunities? I know the stigma that comes with PMO roles so I’m worried about exit ops? Looking for advice

I just inherited someone and made him a Creative Project Manager. He is naturally a good PM (but never did it officially), and is a great people person, but doesn't have any professional experience as a CPM. I want to get him some great training so he can be great at it. We use InMotion Now as our project management software (which is generally great for us). Do you have any recommendations on any online trainings, seminars, podcasts, whatever, that I can pass along to him? TIA.

Touchy feely client asked me today, “how come you never talk about your family? Don’t you get along with them? Family is so important to me.” I’ve been feeling particularly alone and lonely during Covid, but even before... I’m 50, single, never been in a relationship, really feeling kind of down at this “midpoint” in my life. I kind of keep people at arms length especially clients I’ve never even met in person. 😔 How do you even respond?

Since George Floyd's murder and the sudden Corporate America "wokeness," I (black guy) have been routinely contacted by unacquainted Partners who explicitly state something to the effect "Client X wants diversity, so we'd like you on this deal..." It really comes across as tone deaf and completely patronizing. I appreciate the efforts to diversity (albeit forced), but Partners really need to learn how to not be so supercilious in the approach. You don't have to overtly state that I'm the quota.

Does anyone know of where to find remote part time work opportunities for older Indian women? My mom was a part-time after school teacher but has not been doing that due to covid (dad is high risk). I’m having her do some online typing lessons to get her to be a faster typer, maybe find her a data entry gig. She does not want to do nanny’ing / babysitting. She’s a great teacher though and she’s trilingual (Telugu, hindi) - anyone know of where to find opportunities?
