I do it all the time. Sometimes it's late and we're working on the deck or taking a second look and it doesn't look right. It's faster to just do it myself rather than go back and forth over email or make you do it after you've left. Or would you rather be getting texts at 10pm saying you need to revisit?
I love it when they do it. It's great to have a CD who will "get their hands dirty" in Photoshop instead of making you do last minute things.
Alright. Just as long as I'm not the only one. I thought it was weird but now I see it's just part of the game. Thanks Fishbowl.
Yup. What ACD2 said is totally fine in my book. I had an old CD who would go in and change web files at home after work and then fucking rasterize all my smart objects. Wanted to kill the man.
Yeah if I make edits to one of my creatives files it's because i didn't have time to look at it till after hours and I need it for tomorrow. I don't want to make someone work after hours unless it's absolutely necessary.
Of course 🙄
Good point. *kanye shrug*
Just jumping in here to say that as long as they don't fuck up the files by saving over / have enough presence of mind to save as new version, that sounds OK to me? I've once had a CD totally fucking this up the night before, then client ended up wanting something from before which was done only in that last version my regular art director on the account had touched last. And we had to recreate it from scratch for 3 more days afterwards + it backed up other work, blah blah...
I'd rather they do that then hover over a junior giving step by step direction to make it to their liking vs doing it themselves.
CD rewriting copy in comps over the AD's shoulder anyone?🙄
Damn I wish my CW would even open an INDD file and fix some typos sometimes. You're pretty lucky honestly
Yup.
Yep
Yep, on a digital project. Extreme micromanager.
That is pretty underhanded
Never had this happen. Usually I'm the monkey receiving the text messages and making the changes.
Happens all the time. Part of a team precious.
Absolutely have and it's all good by me. We are a team.
Yes. I've even had CDs take things most of the way there and have me finish up. I'm fine with both
Nope
My CD knows how to to direct and trusts me to listen.
That said, I've had that guy as a boss. I didn't last very long there.
