Any advice for a junior associate looking to lateral to a different practice group in the Dallas area?

I had a final round last Thursday, and the hiring manager mentioned the next step will be reference checks. I have another offer due end of this week, which I told them about during the interview. Is it appropriate to follow up with the hiring manager today/tomorrow for an expedited decision, or should I give them at least a week for the final decision?

Seeking advice: Once you are in a big 4 for MC consulting, is it hard to move up to MBB? If you went to MBA school and then tried recruiting into MBB with Big 4 experience? Thanks in advance.

I started a new job in the last two weeks and I’m curious if second thoughts are common. I think it’s too soon to tell if this is the right fit for me work wise, but it’s not exactly what I’m looking for. I was interviewing for my dream job at my dream company before C-19 made it go silent. I know I’m lucky to have a new opportunity but I’m worried I won’t put my best foot forward because I’m not excited about it. I may just be exhausted from burnout and a quick turn around. We brought home our second child a week ago and while my nearly 4 year old son has been nothing but completely loving and sweet to the baby he’s been throwing at least one epic tantrum (screaming, banging on his door, throwing toys in his room) for the past several days. Guys. Question. So I have been working in transaction diligence (FDD) for a while now. I am a 32 yo male. And I made it to SM last year. Am I too old for a MBA? Or a MBA/MPH combined program? I would like to continue my focus in healthcare. Don’t even know if it’s worth really shooting for, or if any reputable school (ie duke, Yale, etc.) would consider me. Thanks
