Being able to see things from the creative’s perspective is also a really valuable trait as a strategist. It’s really helpful in how you write briefs and give feedback. Like VP1 said, if you’re a creative who digs deep for insights and are results driven it shouldn’t require much of a step back.
Interesting direction. Why the move?
I think CSOs will be intrigued by you and your background. Show how you get to insights and turn those insights into creative work. Try to have your strategist involve you in the more upfront work like research so you can learn that. Study business frameworks and good briefs. Work on a strategy deck for fun/practice. If you can show you can do all this plus creative training, you shouldn’t need to take much of a step back bc you can argue you’ve been doing much the of job of a strategist
So much of strategy is building strong narratives and having the sharpest possible language . Agreed with VP 1, you’ll be set if you can do most of that
