Kristina Halvorson’s Content Strategy for the Web is a pretty good book that lays out what Content Strategy is all about, and has resources to connect w other content strategy folks . In a nutshell , it’s about helping clients get the most out of their content. You’ll use some of the skills you developed as a CW (assessing content, editing, organizing) but it’s a different beast than being a writer. Maybe a little more left brain? Not always but that’s how it felt to me when I’ve dabbled in it.

SEO knowledge helps too! I.e. how to structure an article to help a page rank, and educating content writers or freelance writers under you about SEO. Guide templates help partly, the rest is getting people to understand SEO, topical relevance, not keyword stuffing, alt text...
Also alignment with branding and editorial guidelines is something many SEO people or content writers may miss that copywriters know about.
Are you familiar with content pillars and why content are organized in certain buckets?
I am familiar with the concept of creating certain messaging and tactics for people at different stages of the funnel. This breaks up content that we create into different buckets for differ targets. Does that translate?
