Any advice for how to not feel guilty about giving notice for a much higher level job that came up out of the blue when you just survived a third round of layoffs and your team, who you care about, is beyond busy?

Companies do what’s best for them. Not you. So you should do the same. There’s no “good” time to leave a job as you can always find ways to talk yourself out of it.

Someone once told me: the agency won’t ask you if it’s a good time to lay you off, so always do what’s best for you. If you’re as close with your team as you think you are, they will be happy for you.

like

You don’t owe your current agency anything. They’d replace you in a heartbeat. Plus, this new gig gives you the opportunity to open doors for your current coworkers!

You’re going to feel guilty but that’s ok and it shouldn’t hold you back. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t felt guilty and turned down an opportunity that would be good for their career. And who knows maybe you leaving would let them bring back another person.

I also left Mullen recently! I know how you feel. I was really close to my team, my CDs and even my ECDs. But guilt means you've done something wrong. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with pursuing a fantastic opportunity for yourself. Try your best to help with the transition. Convey to you co-workers that they've had a positive impact on you. And maybe even be ready to provide a recommendation for someone should they need it.

It’s your life and your career. Clearly things are unstable and you may not survive the next round. Your team is probably trying to jump ship too. Don’t feel guilty.

Definitely don’t feel guilty. If they have been doing layoffs, you should definitely get a new job.

I hope your colleagues support you and want the best for you. That’s how I’d feel - if I was your colleague

Hey Fb friends - need an advise. My current firm hasn’t stated my GC process yet and with current processing time it appears to be somewhere around 12-15 months time to get PERM approved. In addition my current firm needs leadership approval & they make me sign a reimbursement form in case I quit. On other hand, I have approved i40 from my ex-employer (Big4) who fired me last fall, I don’t know if they will hire me back. Since I am from India and the date of filing appears like going to be…cont.

Given the current scenario, seems like getting laid off is a very real possibility. What is the severance package like at EY, PwC, Deloitte? Just curious

I hate the fact that when recruiters reach out they don’t say what the salary range is, virtual or in-person, weekly hour expectations, how big the accounting department is, or literally anything you would want to know before deciding whether an interview is worth your time.
