Fake it til you make it. No seriously, when I'm in a new role like that, I try to learn everything I can, make friends with helpful people, don't be afraid to take on a challenge. You're smarter than you think!
Take in information, learn from others, be humble as you get up to speed. But remember...you were given the opportunity for a reason and can do whatever you focus on!
Thanks everyone so much! I think this might be the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’m determined to give it everything I’ve got!!!
Agree with Director 1. I learned a lot from the person I was working with. If the company has self study trainings wouldn’t hurt to take some course relevant to your role. Plus it’ll help with CPE credits if you’re needing to meet annual requirements
Have confidence in yourself. You’re there for a reason, so think about what skills/abilities you can lean on and what you’ll have to rapidly improve. Be honest with your team about the newness of the role if you trust them. Leverage your mentor/coach/supervisor when you need support and probably spend an extra hour or two on Sunday prepping for the week so you feel ready to take on challenges. I so so strongly agree with fake it til you make it - confidence and leadership are learned behaviors that take practice!
I’m in the same position! Fake it till you make it and I think actually asking questions and asking confidently goes a long way.
