DO IT!!! It’s a blast. You’ll make lifelong memories. Make sure you have cell reception wherever you go, don’t drink too much, and do your research on neighborhoods and public transit. Splurge on rooms and hotels in safer or convenient locations.

Pack a bag and go. I did 6 weeks in Japan, a road trip around the west/northwest US, a week in Costa Rica, a bunch of weekends away. I’ve also done a single cabin on cruise ship (although I had family on the boat I would have been happier solo). Just before covid I booked a 4 month south/Central America thing which postponed - can’t wait to go. My advice - don’t overthink it. Traveling solo is a lot like traveling with people but without having to make all those decisions about who wants to do what. Regarding safety, you are equally safe - if not safer - walking down a street or eating alone in a restaurant in a foreign country than you are in any US city. The only exception is you might be more susceptible to panhandlers or pickpockets if you appear to be wealthy by comparison, or you might get noticed in conservative countries where women aren’t expected to travel alone. (I wouldn’t go to Afghanistan solo these days, although I would have in different times). Cover up if the country custom dictates. I accidentally wore a knee length skirt and short sleeve tee once to an Indian temple and got a lot of attention for that.
okay CEO - i appreciate this :)
Agree you should do it! I went on a solo 2 week trip to Europe in 2019 and it changed my life! Be smart and safe about your choices and you’ll be just fine.
