Hello all,Need some advise in making career transition. I am an Internal consultant for a SaaS company now. I have over 12 years of experience in the life science consulting area and most of it in the business side. Sharing the rejection degree in the comments.I am an MBA and MSc but not from top tier university.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?
I recently started working at Marcum but now that big4 companies are offering full-time opportunities I am considering to switch. Is it bad to switch firms within the span of 1-2 months? My thought process is “i dont want to get used to this firms processes then switch to another firm after 1 busy season” but i also dont want to burn bridges

I am one year out of grad school so any knowledge regarding how to navigate the workforce as a newbie is welcomed. Thank you!

I just left a very toxic work place. The crazy thing is they were just named the best local municipality to work for. It's upsetting. They advertise a "culture" but don'tapply it. It felt like a used car sales pitch, I was sold a dream but given junk. I am constantly replaying moments. I have read so many books and everything leads to they were the problem. How do I recover from this?

Does anyone here struggle with finding out their purpose and knowing what they want out of their career? Especially anyone in their 30's? I ask because I had a lot of trouble finding this out myself, and after many years of developing ways to understand myself, and creating kind of a system to do that, I started doing it with some of my friends. One of my friends recommended I check out this Fishbowl and see if anyone also can relate to that and maybe I can be helpful to anyone here!!

Any tips for staying motivated when the job hunt gets especially long and disheartening? My SO has been job hunting on and off for what feels like almost a year now and I can tell he is fizzling out. He’s trying to make a big career change, which requires someone to take a bit of a chance on him. He’s putting in the effort and has gotten so so close a number of times to reaching his goal - just nothing has fully planned out yet. Want to be as supportive as I can be without being pushy
I’m currently working as Help Desk in the IT industry and I’ve been doing tech for about 15 years, but I am currently in school and close to graduating with my Associate’s in Psych. Eventually I want to pursue CyberPsych and mix my passion for IT and Psych. The thing is, I hear from many people that you need a Master’s in Psych to do anything in that field. Any A.A’s graduates that can vouch? 🥺
I just accepted a job offer from Meta! It’s a 1-2 year contract position, with potential to go full time. 100% salary raise. Going from $60k to $120k 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Looking to make a career pivot and don’t know if I should outright quit and take a breather from work (I have enough savings) to visit family abroad or take FMLA, knowing I would quit immediately after. Do you think I’d burn bridges by taking FMLA, then quitting 2 weeks later? The only reason I’d do that option is for financial reasons and to have income while I am visiting family.
Good morning fellow fish! For the last year or so I (24m) have felt the desire to move on from my current company for a few different reasons:1. The industry/company doesn’t captive/inspire me2. I do not see a desirable career ladder over the next 5-10 years3. The work is moving further away from the things I enjoy (analysis, business/strategy, metrics/reporting)I’ve started to prepare for a job search, but I don’t know what I want to do so I’m almost scared to start. Any advice?

Looking to possibly make a career change but I’m honestly not sure where to go next. I’m a finance manager working in the RV industry and I do really well but I am looking for a normal schedule and to finally have Saturdays off so I can make it to all my kid’s games. I feel like this industry is so hard to get out of because any job change comes with a huge pay cut. Has anyone else made the move out of the sales industry and what are your thoughts? Where did you go?
Hi fishbowl community. I need some help getting my resume reviewed. I have been applying for jobs rigorously but haven’t seen a good result. It makes me wonder if I’m doing the right things. Please can someone help me out with my resume? Thank you
Hello everyone! First-time poster here. I've been in a specific industry for 20 years and left a leadership position 1yr ago. I took a break for myself! I've been on the hunt for my new adventure (not in that industry). I am finding it hard! Majority of the time I don't hear back. When I do get interviews, I get "we decided not to fill this role," or I get to the final round and am not selected. I am looking for advice on my resume and cover letter. I want to get more hits on my applications.
I love my boss and my team but hate the work. I've been there for over a decade and the pay is good but the hours and stress are extreme. Been interviewing and although the work seems more exciting, not sure I should give up the safe option. I also have no chance for advancement currently and would be doing the same job till I retire or die.
Keep your head up. It takes time to transition. There could be a few factors at play here.
0 luck?
Are you putting in 💯 effort?
What have you tried?
What is the data? How many jobs have you applied to? Who have you asked for informational interviews? What have you done to improve your skills?
