I'd recommend to not do it yourself first if you're in consulting. Just hire a pm for the first year and see how it goes
MA is very tenant friendly, which means you do have to take extra precautions to protect yourself as a landlord. The state is really particular about a lot of details that can end up hurting you if things go south with a tenant. That said, I’ve had great luck with tenants in the 10+ years that I have been a landlord in Boston.
