Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

My personal rule of thumb is responding “will do” within the hour m-f 9-6pm. The weekends very, if I know we’re closing a deal I check it more often but if not make 3-4x. I’m a rising 3rd at a V25 on the west coast. This was also my go to for the east coast firm I worked at before lateraling.

Has someone talked to you about it yet? If not don’t sweat it. If it’s really urgent they’ll follow up

Ask them the following - if i was a drafting an important brief for you, or was on a phone call with you, would you like me to ignore all that so i can respond to every single email that i get within 15 minutes? Oh, no? Then fuck off.

I only do that during business hours or if it's an urgent matter. Exercise your discretion regarding when someone needs an immediate acknowledgment. If someone acts offended that you did not respond fast enough after 6 pm on a non urgent matter, then you know to avoid that person like the plague.
