Any advice on finding in-house opportunities for junior associates in IP transactions/privacy? I've seen some juniors with 0.5-1.5 years of experience in biglaw go in-house lately, but all the postings I've found ask for 3+ years.

Apply… sometimes they will consider people with less experience. My friend got hired to Apple in an engineering position right after undergrad despite the job posting asking for 10+ years.

Definitely apply but also consider the potential benefits in staying longer. For example, do you have a lot of standalone experience? If not, may be best to stay put until youre more comfortable. Also if youre looking to go into an inhouse gig w bigger legal team, there are benefits of you going un as a senior counsel

What are good questions to ask at an interview with a fellow member firm (different country)? Firms generally tout how standardized their methodologies and some ‘firm’ culture are generally consistent, so would want to avoid the typical ‘outsider’ questions.

When does it become smart to switch to Roth investments? For 20 years I've gone with trad IRAs and 401(k)s; I wasn't a high earner and reasoned I could use the tax benefits and would (hopefully) end my working life with plenty of money in the bank to take the tax loss then. I'm now in early middle age making low six figures--is now the time or do I keep waiting? I know if I take required withdrawals on a trad while I'm still working I could be hit hard, but when I retire I expect to..retire.

Met with my boss today and was told “well you’re way better at your job than we expected...so keep doing that and just that. We might be able to have some more interesting work for you to do in 2-3 years”. Meanwhile...I am BORED TO TEARS!!!!!! And it’s tempting to quit, but I make more money than both of my parents combined EVER have, we had zero layoffs during COVID, and I really do love the people. At the end of the day...I guess I’m just hear to vent and to see if I’m the ONLY one.
