I would suggest moving to Healthcare Insurance. Medical doctors are highly needed in a variety of areas, with the main role as an advisor.
I’ve just started the same process - I have a specific interested in digital health so that’s the pathway I’m going down. I am not sure what your current salary is - but I think £60-65k is standard, maybe £70k for boutique consultancies - which may mean a salary step down initially - but the climb and progression is massive from there on.
This is very true - for context I’m a general medicine Physician with 6 years (post grad) experience and I’m on £46k.
Medical science liaison for a surgical product company would be one suggestion, or medical affairs, or medical education, chief marketing officer, chief medical officer, etc. Lots of travel but comp should be good and it’s an opportunity to still advance care and impact lives
This is very true, and if you work with pharma companies, they're happy to do referrals. They are always looking for KOLs and other roles like medics etc where the MD degree is v valuable. You could also do consulting if you don't want to commit to one place
Get on with an EHR. They are always looking for physician SMEs to help solving workflow issues.
What country are you in OP? I’m not too sure what level you would be coming in as but if you want to message me I can send you a list of firms that do healthcare consulting work. For context, I’m in healthcare consulting at an associate level with 3YOE non clinical, with 115k total comp.
I sent you a DM
I’m just wondering why you would want to do this? I’m looking at the opposite path. I’m over consulting and want to do something meaningful that also pays well
