Offer phase, unless you’re in person and visibly very pregnant. 20 weeks is cuspy if it’s people who have never seen you before.

Thank you!

After you’re hired.

I would not wait until you’re hired if you do not know what their maternity benefits are. You may need to negotiate time off when you negotiate pay, if it gets that that point.

like

Finish the interviews and then have a call with recruiter to discuss benefits. Throw in some random things in there as well like office pet policy and life insurance or whatever. Once you get the offer, then you can discuss it when deciding your starting date. If you are switching insurance providers, pregnancy might be considered a preexisting condition, so be careful and check first.

What you said is spot on. Thanks so much for your advice!

Is there a reason you're looking now rather than while on maternity leave? May be worth waiting it out, most places don't offer the kind of time off the big 4 does. Also, personal opinion more people should turn down jobs with bad maternity leave included in the offer package/ find out what maternity leave policy is before they start (even if not pregnant). And TELL THEM you turned it down because of bad mat leave policy. Once they see it's keeping out talent, they have incentive to change!

Thank you for your advice!

You may not qualify for maternity leave. Many firms require you to be an employee for a period of time before you can claim that benefit. You are already half way through your pregnancy, any chance you can wait it out till after you give birth and have maternity leave with your current company? I would definitely not wait till after you accept a position.

Ok but here is the other thing. If you stay at your current company until you give birth and take your maternity leave with them, make sure you come back for at least a few weeks or a month when maternity leave is over. Some companies will try and rake back the maternity benefits paid out if you never come back from maternity leave. Congratulations, and good luck however it turns out!

Husband got an offer at a high tech company and didn’t tell them until he got an offer. They were completely supportive and fine with it and he was on paternity leave 3 weeks after his start date. When you get the offer, make sure to get the details of medical and other benefits to see how it works for the specific co

When I was excitedly my 3rd, I actually backed out of an interview because I was expecting. The manager called me, personally and said, "I'd still like you to interview." I was hired for that position, with the manager and everyone knowing that I was expecting.

Anyone else tire of the “plant mom” and “dog dad” me too conversation? It seems to be more frequent. For example, company says, “Parents, please share pictures of working from home with your kids during Covid” for a diversity and inclusion project. Undoubtedly someone responds, “what about my plant babies? 🤣”. I don’t want sympathy but I find it childish. Just give us the courtesy of understanding that plants and pets are not the same. Stop “me too’ing”

Hi fishes - I’m with an MBB as a 2y Partner looking to move to B4, for a bunch of reasons. In active conversations with two of them. While compensation levels seem similar for now, the other posts on this bowl suggest we end up making more at B4 than MBB. (Referring to the 1.5M number of a y4 partner at b4). What is the real trajectory that people here have seen at B4? And how much of that is bonus - base - other components?
