I feel like there are two paths you could take here: 1) stop using the prescription stuff and move to a weaker formula and build up from there. Doesn’t need to be fancy. The Ordinary is affordable and has several different strengths available.
2) Stay the course. Deal with the peeling and irritation. It should hopefully get better after a month. But you have to be consistent. It took me an entire year to adjust to even 1% retinol because I was only using it once a week.
Also, apply it to clean, dry skin before your other serums at night. This can help to decrease the irritation.
You can ask for a lower strength, or try applying moisturizer first. You’re applying at night and using sunscreen in the morning, right?
Interesting, that is not what I was taught. Thank you
Don’t have really great advice but here’s what I do. I use it every other night as the first step in my routine after I cleanse with a gentle cleanser. I use a moisturizer after and wear sunscreen during the day. My cleanser and moisturizer are cerave because I find that some other brands irritate my skin too easily. My skin was red and peeling for 2 weeks but it’s better now post 6 weeks. I still get patches of dry skin here and there. If your skin isn’t easing into it after a couple weeks I would talk to your dermatologist
