Start small and find a small ~ mid sized companies for entry level fpa or finance role.
Thank you for that advice, I feel like I’m rushing to get into a big company with all the good pay and benefits. I might have a better chance with starting at a smaller company for experience.
It’s cliche, but networking is key. You stand a better chance of landing a position if you can get individuals to know you as a person vs. just another sheet of paper (your resume). I didn’t even know I’d be where I’m at today until one of my networks contacted me out of the blue asking if I’d be interested in joining. Plus if you can create a deep network you’ll have people to bounce ideas off of once you get into your position.
If you’re submitting online apps, it’s a numbers game. When I was looking for a new job I sent out 200+ apps and got a response to advance from maybe about 20 of them. Most of them I never heard back from, and even 4 months into my new job I’m still getting automated rejection emails
