For a manager to a team member- be a micromanager and annoyingly incompetent to delegate a team lol. My manager is a micromanager I’m denial. That gave me the confidence and assertiveness I needed to speak up for myself since I saw how incredibly good I am/was at my job to even do their job better. It gave me the confidence I needed to apply and interview elsewhere

A career coach might do you good.

Talk to yourself like you’d talk to a friend or colleague you respect - we are always harder on ourselves. Also, recognize that it’s almost never part of anyone’s actual job to know everything. Most jobs are to have a good knowledge base and use that to make decisions as things come up. In other words, no one actually knows what they’re doing. We’re literally ALL just making it up. Obviously we’re trying our best, but it’s not like there’s a right or wrong answer for everything, we’re all just taking our best shot. And if someone disagrees with you, okay…and? Either they make a reasonable point and give you more to think about, or you still think your decision/approach/opinion is best. There’s nothing wrong with that either way. Maybe this isn’t what you’re looking for, I just feel like my own life got a lot easier when I was 24ish and my mom told me adults are all just making it up as they go along. I was like well shit, I can do that!

My company posted a job opening for a management position for my department and I read the job description… it is literally, line by line, a description of what I do now. I asked what the deal was and was told I should apply and that I’m qualified for the position. Should I be pissed that they didn’t ask me if I was interested in that type of position before they put out a job opening for an external candidate?

I start a new position at a new company on Monday! Very excited. 🥳 I have many meetings set up to meet internal stakeholders, leaders, etc to get to know them as humans and their roles. Any suggestions about what to ask, any questions you found useful to ask that helped you understand new team mates quickly? Thank you! 😊

My company was just acquired by a private equity firm. We’ve been around for 25+ years and have been a public company. They say “business as usual” for now, and I feel like the product I work in is pretty safe. I also received direct, positive feedback from the company’s COO surrounding my leadership. I recognize there can be positives and negatives to this type of acquisition, but I’m curious if anyone has any tips, feedback, personal experiences, etc. they can share?
