Yes please 😂
Hello everyone,
From your experience, should I apply to entry-level strategy consulting positions in Paris (my hometown) or in Dubaï?
Background: I just finished my master's in finance and my bachelor's in target/international universities and did 2 M&A internships (Tier2 bank & elite boutique).
I am considering relocating to Dubai (vs. Paris) because of the following elements:
-net pay
-better chance to get into top firms?
-WLB
-international
-meritocratic
What are your thoughts? Thanks!

@KPMG 28 months, 6 days, 15 hours, 6 minutes and approximately 32 seconds 🤷🏾♂️
Change service lines maybe? I would highly suggest trying to work with small businesses. I think then you feel the real impact you are making. I interned at a tiny Cpa firm and found my work more fulfilling than at a big4 I’m current in.
Lol 28 months in. How many days???
@OP i feel the same. My quality of work has gone to shit bc all i think about is changing careers and how invaluable my work/i am
Alcohol and pills help numb the pain.
OP —- How “fulfilling” do you really think selling cars or real estate will be? The internet does that shit these days. I had similar feelings as you at the staff/senior levels; stuck it out and things got a lot better. I’ve matured and the job has gotten more interesting / rewarding. It’s essentially a sales job but with much higher stakes and more sophisticated buyers. Example- just sold the client on some out of scope work with a price tag approximately the same as a fully loaded BMW M5
I find myself thinking that leaving to sell cars or real estate, etc. would be a better gig, but then ask why the hell I went to college if that’s what I want to do. Any thoughts/advice on how to get my shit together?

@EY1 I guess I see selling cars as more interesting/exciting. I really do like the perks of public accounting such as the flexibility, competitively, etc., but I think the grunt work is beginning to bore me. I am also not B4 so maybe it’s just my firm? Who knows. I just want to figure things out because I’m constantly beating myself up over the whole situation
I sold cars for two weeks before I enrolled in grad school. Dont do it, it’s awful. Worse than public account for realz.
@SA1 that could work 🤔
OP - not sure how your firm is. But have you considered speaking to your counselor. Explaining that you would like to see different facets of the accounting world. Maybe attend events? Also, I liked to make a game of it when I started. So if everyone was afraid of a partner, I would make it my goal to speak to that partner and form a relationship with them one way or another. I till this day have relationships with these partners and they bend over backwards for me.
Also, on the events point. If you attend events where there are forums, you will hear what others have done, how their careers have shifted and how they kept themselves happy
If your not at big4 then I would think that u are seeing full returns. And if you are preparing a full return then u should be seeing the effect. Otherwise, maybe try have a conversation. With your senior and manager to discuss what conversations they are having with the client. That way u can see how certain adjustments or projects came about
