Any advice on how to tell your manager not to cut you off in meetings all the time? P.S I’m a consultant and the manager is a full timer on the client side. Which I think makes her think that behavior is ok.

I deal with the same thing. Following.

Depending on the type of relationship you have with the manager outside of this context, could you arrange a call with them separately to discuss the issue? Explain that you feel like you aren't able to get what you need to say across to the customer because of possibly unintentional interruptions. Have someone in HR be part of that meeting too if you think that might help level the conversation. The last thing you want is for them to butt in during a call about them butting in. You want someone there to be able to spot it first hand.

You should have a candid conversation with her and let her know that she is cutting you off. She may not see it as that. She may see it as helping you.

Do: - Address it one on one - Use the “sandwich” concept of one thing you like or think is productive about their approach first/then this issue/then a positive closing & way forward - Present it as the manager shortchanging themselves by not fully availing themselves of all available information and perspectives - Suggest it may be preventing others from even participating Don’t: - Let this fester and become passive aggressive - Broach it in a group setting - Make this feedback the sole purpose of your interaction, work it in on a general one on one to take the stakes down a bit

I wasn’t aware of such a sandwich concept. Very helpful tips. Appreciated!

It's really unethical behavior. But he may not even be aware of it. You should go and talk about this in private.

Just wait for her to finish and then say: "If I can continue my thought...." She should get the hint after a few times, hopefully

I've used this approach, or I make some kind of sly comment like "thanks for chiming in!" and then go on with it. If they have a problem with that, they'll raise it
