Any advice on pivoting into a privacy counsel/associate role? Graduated from law school in 2020 at the height of the pandemic, took a JD advantage role in privacy at a FAANG company upon graduation as I had no offers lined up (Covid dried up a lot) recently promoted to program manager, but looking to pivot into a counsel role. Any advice on how to translate my experience or even get my foot in the door? Have I pigeon holed myself into an operations/consulting career trajectory? Stay on as a PM?

Go for a firm role
First. It will be much easier with some law firm experience. Most in-house don’t want to hire without several year of law firm training

like

I interviewed with a big firm last October and after six rounds they said they wanted someone more experienced :/ I’ve gotten a few in-house interviews just never got passed the first round.

Will keep looking at firms though! Thank you

Get to a BigLaw firm’s privacy group. Easy transition might be your company’s outside counsel

Need advice!

I currently have 10% shares in a very small f&b group owns 2 restaurant outlets.

One of them have been hit with covid and we are suffering in sales. Our director somehow don’t believe in marketing and will not budge to allocate resources to hire a personnel. Our staff are underpaid so there are no incentives for them to go beyond their SOW.

What are some of the ways to drive more sales?

If we have to raise a small round to cover the next 6 months of OPEX - is it a feasible?

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

My remit quadrupled+ in a recent re-org with no increase in pay/promotion, my new director is new to the company and was zero help, and I was passed over for recent promotion during the comp cycle. Hello fellow HR pros! I really need your opinions on HR certifications. I am deciding between PHR and SHRM-cp. I have read just about all there is online comparing the two and can not decide. My heart is telling me PHR, my mother in law (an HRBP) is telling me to go with SHRM, as it’s more widely recognized, more established and a larger network in general. I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
