Any advice on the best place to put a $30K emergency fund? It's currently in a high yield savings account but I'm looking for a safe way to invest the money for better growth but with little risk?

By definition (emergency fund), you’ll want to keep it highly liquid and minimize risk. Not too many places beyond high yield savings accounts that match those criteria...

Thank you. This makes a lot of sense. Your feedback is much appreciated.

I just moved mine to BulletShares ETFs. If you’re unfamiliar with them, each ETF is a collection of bonds with a specific maturity year and at the end of that year the fund essentially pays out the principal and shuts down. The 2020 fund has a yield of about 2.4% and if I recall correctly, you pick up apps 10 basis points for each year you move out. Virtually no risk in maturities less than 3 years IMO.

Had never heard of this, I like this idea a lot. Still low risk, but can reasonably double a HYSA

Hello everyone,

I am currently a HR Generalist for a small aerospace company, located in CA. I have been in a generalist role for a little over 4 years now and before that, I did recruiting/safety for about 3 years. I am now looking into getting my HR Certification, but am stuck in between the PHR-CA or the SHRM-CP. Does anyone have any recommendations they can give me?

Thoughts on PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP certs? I have approximately 9 years of HR exp and my bachelors and MBA. Been debating on whether or not I need to fulfill my urge to get a certification. Wanted to get some thoughts around whether you have a similar background and opted to or opted to not get their certification? Thanks!

Hello fellow SAP Consultants!
I am SAP HCM consultant having 4.10 years of experience. I feel that this module doesn’t have any growth. My first switch took me to 9LPA from 6LPA and now the second switch is being offered for 11.5LPA where I can see my fellow friends in SAP having more than 15LPA at the same experience on their second switch itself. Should I be worried about my skillset? Any insights would highly be appreciated. I feel stuck.

Do people tend to age out of wanting to FIRE?

In your 20s-30s, you don’t know much, you’re told what to do, you have few financial resources so you are tied to your job. Under these circumstances it makes perfect sense why you would want to FIRE asap.

But eventually you advance up the ladder, you are now the boss and your people do all the grunt work. You also have built up expertise which makes the job easier. And you are making the best money of your life. FIRE is no longer so pressing.

This sounds like a crazy question, but if you have 1MM in working capital invested in the markets at 35 and you are looking at spending 150-200k in retirement. 4-5MM target number.

Serious question - is there a reverse FIRE strategy? I like the idea of saving and retiring early, but the one hiccup I see (and sorry if this is grim) is if you die earlier than expected. I’d be worried that I would minimize lifestyle and fun for retirement at 50 but I’d die at 49. How about a way to work 9 months out of the year and retire/travel/relax for 3 months? This way you guaranteed your dreams/etc. are fulfilled
