Did you work on one project? You worked 8 hours that day on the project.
Did you work on two projects equally? 4 hours goes to project 1, 4 hours goes to project 2.
Did you barely work on project 1 and majority on project 2? 1 hour goes to project 1, 7 hours goes to project 2.
Did you run out of billable hours on a project?
Ask your project manager what account is used for temporary non-billable tasks.
That's it 🤷♂️
Pad it if you need to to make it 8 hours. Even if your whole day of work was 1 hour. Make it add to 8 min.
I log all my hours in a notebook (starting time-ending time / project) as the day goes, and at the end of the week I put all of them in. A little more anal than other methods suggested, but it’s also nice to have a paper trail in case anything comes up

Also, if you don’t need to do them daily, log them elsewhere (eg clockify or on paper) and collate them at the end of the week - means you can shift your time around to account for 12 hour days and 6 hour days, if you have 8 hour daily minimums.
Actually, I’m curious how you track time/bill without timesheets. Care to share?
I was paid daily so I didn’t really have to keep exact track. I just submitted how many days I worked
I try to do mine daily so I don’t get behind and forget everything. In the past I’ve kept a spreadsheet for personal records as well, which ended up being super helpful.
