One hypo I got was to pick a complex area of law and explain it the the interviews as if they were a nonlawyer

like

Thanks! I’m gonna practice this too

Figure out how to articulate what you would do/what steps you would take if you don't know the answer.

Thanks. Are there any resources to practice doing this? I am expecting Amazon-like hypos that don’t necessarily require any specific legal knowledge. I just want to try doing a few to get used to it.

If you know the law of the job your applying for you should be fine. If I’d reach out to people to see which statues are important

Regardless of what the hypo is, always explain it in a way that will highlight what you will bring to the company. That is the only reason they’re asking the question…

In your view what are those qualities that I should bring in corporate/securities context?

After a long and extensive interview process (2 months & 12 rounds of interviews) I finally heard back that they are very interested in offering me the job. My Current base is $135k (in NJ) and my ask is $180K (in NYC). But base comp ceiling for the position grade is $165k and they are willing to offer one time payment to make up for the gap between the offer & the ask. Any thoughts? The role has very upward potential in next couple of years.

What are other comp elements I can negotiate? Thx!

Hello, due to covid I moved in with my parents and was able to save some money to buy a house. My parents basement and garage were already full of my brother’s items ( Navy Guy) so I put my items in a storage unit. I am looking for a moving company that can get my items from the storage to new house. Any suggestions of good and reliable movers? I need the movers to load, unload and set up some furnitures. I live in Atlanta GA now if that helps.

Boss is gaslighting? Just experienced this for the first time - and would love to hear others’ experiences, too. For the past few years, my micromanager boss asked that I send them every draft of every contract to review, no matter how minor. In my performance review, when asked why I wasn’t promoted, they said that a reason was because I need to learn to stop sending them drafts to review! I said that I only did this because they asked for it, and they said they don’t remember saying that!

My co-worker is so resentful and competitive because I was promoted over her last year which caused a demotion on her end. People in the company still go to her for things that should be for me but she rarely corrects them. Shes still involved in the company too in a way that allows her to know secrets that I should know about but never do. I technically am above her within the company but this is how things are. In-house counsel - would you prefer working at a big company specializing in a field of law, eg, privacy, IP, employment, etc, or a small company being a general counsel? Assume the small company has a higher risk of going under compared to the big company, but higher reward (via stock), and the large company pays a healthier salary.
