I have a client who is an emerging growth company. This will be the 1st year we’re looking at their SOX controls. The internal audit department who designed & tests the controls reports to the controller (not the board). Does this mean that we can’t rely upon their work since there isn’t a distinct independence between IA and Mgmt? Want opinions before I raise as I can’t find clear information & my peers do not know.
