How does MBB view people who join and stay for just a year? Specialist (non generalist - data science) if it matters. Do they hold it against you? Due to a personal situation I may have to leave but I'm not interested in staying at my current job for another year.
Is 112K for a startup good for 2 YOE in MBB in nyc? I was personally targeting 135K at least but this seems interesting
Got 2 offers, 1st from British American Tobacco- Planning Expert 10% pay rise and 2nd from small company(focus on data science) 50% pay rise, Data Science Project Goal: to break into MBB or FAANG
1yr of work experience at MBB -- prior experience was in non-profit / community development. What exits could allow me to stay in the private sector that aren't consulting? I think exiting to Tech or a bank is unlikely with no prior experience; I want to eventually return to non profit work, but still want to spend the next few years in the private sector (tbh, just for the experience and so my MBA didn't go to waste). Any ideas?
Does it bother you that the job market is so faddish? When I left college (pre-crisis) most wanted to work for a bank or MBB. Now all I hear about is FANG (but mostly G) and startups.
Is HSW worthless in the job market without MBB/BBIB/FAANG to go with it? Please show your work 🙂
I know we have a thread on this for MBB, but I was wondering if people could give some insight into any retention bonuses/raises/other perks like increased annual leave at their firm as a result of Covid. We got some extra holidays over Christmas and our bonus was paid regularly for last year, but nothing extra. The US bowls seem to be reporting large retention bonuses, so was wondering if UK is similar
Can anyone market size how much business either big 4 or MBB generate for hotels, airlines, and car rentals? This could be a great case.
Which non-SWE roles are worth it at FAANG in terms of pay? Will any pay better than MBB?
What pays more at entry level, FAANG biz ops or MBB? What about at the next level (after 2 YOE or so)?
Hey hey all you lovely people, hope you're excited for the weekend! So this question's for a friend- would anybody have an insight on entry level MBB/T2 consultant salaries in Dubai/the Middle East? I've been told that the numbers on Glassdoor are outdated, is that true?
Is it just me but I think ex-[MBB] makes sense and even ex-Deloitte or any of the bigger prominent firms because it actually speaks to an active Alumni group or a profession with a broad skillset. But ex-[Bank] looks a bit strange. Please educate me! Am I being a snob?
What do junior partners (2-3 yrs as partner) at Deloitte S&O make all-in? What is that figure at MBB, PwC, EY?
Curious to know what associate/consultant level compensation is in MBB or Big 4 in 2 locations: Tokyo vs Singapore
I recently received two offers: (1) Deloitte (S&O); and Accenture (Technology Consulting). Which would be more aligned to MBB/FAANG?
FAANG good MBB bad, am I doing it right
Had another AD help my CW on a brief while I was on PTO for a couple of days, and is now refusing to get off the project and letting me do my job. I'm all for collaboration and appreciate the three hours he worked on it, but it's getting to the point that he's trying to steamroll me out of my own team and project by not letting me have any input on my own work. It's starting to really impact the output and dynamics. What do I do?
Planning to jump off the Big 4 ship for better WLB while with hopes for better compensation. Which one is better for customer facing cyber roles between AWS and Microsoft ?
For Atlanta taxpayers, when do you pay your tax bill? How do you pay it? Use a card and get points? Any advantage to paying sooner VS later?
Why do I feel so guilty about wanting to take another offer and leaving my team? I like my current teammates just HATE the client and project. I’ve also asked for a raise multiple times and have been told no. I’m underpaid but am up for promotion this year (June). I don’t think Deloitte can/willmatch. I want to take the money but I feel like I’m still learning leaderships skills and can see the potential for beefing out the management portion of my resume. What would you do? (Offer 50% more)
From reading this app. I realize we have it really well at EY. Deloitte doing major layoffs, KMPG has to come in at the crack of dawn, PwC well the hours..
I’m an incoming AC1 at Bain and I have spent the summer studying a bit for the GMAT since we had a stipend. I took it with no practice and received a 640. After studying on an off for a couple of months I received a 690. I’m likely going to cancel the score since I realize it isn’t enough for M7. To provide some more insight on my profile. I graduated undergrad from UofM BBA Magna Cum Laude, have interned in Big 4 consulting, IB, and VC, and I’m an Asian-American. What should I do?
Any useful advice on coping with feelings of failure? I have invested a lot of time in the past 5 years to specialise in my field (int'l arb), moved countries twice, invested more money than I currently have to requalify where I am now (UK), and still cannot get even a single interview for an associate position. I have been struggling financially for a while now (I am paid half of what a trainee earns in London), and have been feeling quite disappointed with myself. Should I give up? (Cont.)
If you go from h1b to h4, but still have time left on your original h1b visa, can you switch back to h1b easily?
A very good friend is having a gender reveal party at the insistence of his wife. I think they’re a bad idea and harmful for lots of reasons, but telling my friend this would only be heard as an attack on his wife. Can I attend to be a supportive friend without supporting the gender reveal?
Has anybody made the switch from Big 4 consulting to MBB? What was the interview process like, and how did you prepare?
Grad job advice needed! Should I take a data analyst role at a no-name boutique or non-strategy/non-finance Advisory role (Physical Asset Management) in Big 4? My end goal is to end up in Strategy (MBB, LEK, Kearney, Big4Strat) after an MBA or by networking. Which role would set me up the best? Thank you kind sirs.
Deciding that next year (ideally before) is my cut off for leaving this job; whether it’s through a new career path, manual labor or just quitting without a backup plan. My mental health deserves better, sticking it out for one more year as I aim to to be vested in my 401K and save up for 6-9month emergencies. I feel insane for leaving consulting especially with only 1-2 YOE but it’s just not worth it anymore.
What is the range for a senior consultant in Advisory (FRA)? Currently at 100k (another big 4) in the dc area so what kind of bump should i expect
Have an opportunity to be a loaned staff for a company I find really interesting for 2 years. Should I be cautious of this? Seems like a good opportunity but I’d likely miss out on the typical career progression of a big 4 firm
These are the threads we should frame and hang in all agency lobbies instead! "Just got laid off. Just found out I’m pregnant. Someone say it’s going to be okay, because that seem..." See full post https://joinfishbowl.com/post_2r395j
Had an interview with a firm in NYC I’m really interested in earlier this week. It felt like it went well and like the partners (including the hiring partner) liked me. What is the general time between interview and offer/rejection?
Hey I am selling 6 domestic upgrades and 4 international upgrades for United Airlines. The only caveat is that the ticket(s) must be booked by the end of the month. Get them while they are hot!
I was due for a promotion but then covid hit, and during the peak of layoffs/furloughs, I was given the run-around that we have agency wide promotion freezes, etc. Over the past month, a handful of people have been promoted. I know everyone's situation is different but I can't help feeling snubbed. How do I know whether they are genuinely trying to promote me and can't, versus them stringing me along for as long as possible? I dont want it to come to having to bring another offer to the table..
