Feeling nostalgic for my childhood. I was a latchkey kid. I would prepare my own food when I got home because my parents would come home late from work. Hamburger Helper was one of my go to’s and I would doctor it up with other ingredients. This is my homemade version of Taco Hamburger Helper. Fancy! 😂

Harissa Sweet Potato Latkes with Spiced Yogurt, Mint and Pomegranate: My version of latkes is certainly not traditional. Caramelized sweet potatoes are infused with spicy harissa, extra kick from Aleppo pepper and cardamom in the yogurt sauce topped with refreshing mint leaves and pomegranate arils. Would Bubbee approve? Probably not. It’s still delicious and decadent that it can be enjoyed all year. From my tinyhappykitchen on Instagram.

Hi!

Today I read the op-ed in LA Weekly by the Preux and Proper owner, Josh Kopel. When this group started, it was a dream of mine to meet you while enjoying a drink or a meal and build a community of people who enjoy the city and wanted to explore its food. It’s surreal to think that we have been in lockdown for this long. I know many restaurants may be struggling and if you have a favorite, a local gem, please share with us.

The person I’m seeing has been responding to my texts days later (only a recent development) and it’s making me anxious. They have been busy the past two weeks with PhD exams and their last message was them planning when they could see me again (in a really flirty way too), so logically I know the delay is not a sign of disinterest. But I have an anxious attachment style (if that’s not obvious) and my therapist is on leave right now, so I’m struggling. Do any of you have any advice?
