Currently a VP at a $2M annual digital agency and switching jobs to be manager level in a big brand. I’m desperate to get out of my current gig before starting a family and excited about my next step but can’t help but think this is a downgrade. I’ve worked agency side for 12 years and this is my first foray into brand side. Pay is a little more and better benefits. Am I crazy for thinking this is a step back?
Ladies of Washington DC, do you like it? I’m mid twenties and thinking of moving but not sure if it’s the right move.
I have a very unique name and I’m a WOC, I’ve noticed someone is posting negative comments as me (they used my name) on a popular advertising site about my previous agency. I have no clue who’s doing-
Stay at an agency that isn’t doing anything now but will (maybe) in the future or go to an agency where you will for sure be making stuff but not sure it will be good stuff?
Male colleague couldn’t make meetings today due to closed day care. Must be nice! I’ve been doing it for a year with double the kids and make my meetings happen.

how many vacations do you take per year? How many is appropriate?
I know we all have vacation days, my anxiety tells me not to take them though.
Show me your favorite sneakers! I’m looking for something comfy but cool, not too flashy and under $100. I wear mostly black and neutrals, though sometimes some fun prints. 👟
I’ve worked with two junior (but ambitious) account women in the past year whose boyfriends don’t like for them to travel so they don’t go on shoots. Or they go minimally. How is this a thing?
I realize advertising was built in a mans world, but any agencies that broke away from the “mad men” era? I want to be a part of something where I don’t have to explain the value of a woman’s presence
Men get more feedback than women. Thought I’d share what I just heard on a podcast with Sallie Krawcheck. And we should actively seek feedback because it’s not given to us as much.
Half jokingly asking... Is it unreasonable to ask if I can take a 30 min nap during the day because I'm pregnant and keep falling asleep standing or sitting... Work will be done of course...

I'm at 9 years experience and looking for some additional perspective on what skills I should be focusing on.
A former co-worker (not from W+K) who I know got let go because he was not effective or good at his job just got a new job as a VP of Design of a major corporation. He blatantly lied about his experience on LinkedIn (and I assume his resume), inflating his title and severely either overstating his role on projects or flat-out making up projects. It made me wonder just how many “leaders” do you think gain their roles this way? I know it happens, but that doesn’t lessen my anger one bit.
Need a new suitcase and thinking of upgrading from Swiss Gear at Target. Any Away or Tumi users? Worth the cost? What size for frequent international trips 7-14 days long?
What do you do when you’ve been a solid contributor, valued member to a growing team, who always goes the extra mile, and gets positive praise daily from coworkers plus great reviews yet as a mid level production designer with a multitude of skills (who’s been knowingly underpaid but enjoys the freedom of working remote) has her creative director quit (who labored his team out of love) - domino effect, eventually their team falls apart and you find yourself being laid off “effective now”
Just accepted an offer, but now another opportunity just popped up to move up a title. Should I go for it?
