Adrian McKinty’s Sean Duffy books are unputdownable, great hard boiled crime fiction. Moody clever fuckup detective who loves music, incredible 80s soundtracks thru and thru, set with The Troubles as the background context, great dames in each one too

My #1 summer reco to everyone

SAME. I get distracted very easily, true crime has always kept me focused. You’ll probably like “The Kind Worth Killing.” Its a crime/mystery where you experience the POV of every character involved.

The Three Body Problem trilogy has been great for me. Not sure if you're into that kind of fiction. Solid and admirable writing though.

The Likeness by Tana French. So good but complex. Also loved The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides. If you want something that’s a bit of a quicker summer page turner, I really enjoyed:

In Her Eyes - Sarah Alderson
The Stepdaughter - Georgina Cross
Spare Room - Dreda Say Mitchell

Currently a VP at a $2M annual digital agency and switching jobs to be manager level in a big brand. I’m desperate to get out of my current gig before starting a family and excited about my next step but can’t help but think this is a downgrade. I’ve worked agency side for 12 years and this is my first foray into brand side. Pay is a little more and better benefits. Am I crazy for thinking this is a step back?

A former co-worker (not from W+K) who I know got let go because he was not effective or good at his job just got a new job as a VP of Design of a major corporation. He blatantly lied about his experience on LinkedIn (and I assume his resume), inflating his title and severely either overstating his role on projects or flat-out making up projects. It made me wonder just how many “leaders” do you think gain their roles this way? I know it happens, but that doesn’t lessen my anger one bit.
