McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Yes. The culture of PwC has changed dramatically in the past 3-4 years. This isn’t the firm I left and I wish I had never returned.
Funny I got laid off from Pdubs with a bunch of awesome people 3 years ago... seeing a lot of low performing PMO types that took forever to make Manager get Sr Manager now... I guess high utilization trumps all else...

No. There is a reason one leaves and although the next job might not be perfect/dream fit, it doesn’t make the last place any better.
I boomeranged and a lot more happy this time. I think it’s because I know what’s out there and I’m not idealizing industry jobs. I recognize the trade offs and have made a more informed decision
