Is the intellectual stimulation reason enough to join MBB? Do you often find the work intellectually challenging? Do you feel that you’ve experienced significant professional growth that would otherwise be unobtainable?

I’m hitting senior this year and considering switching firms (one offer in hand for another B4 firm), just b/c it looks like at this other firm I can a) work on companies I actually have an interest in and b) possibly be on more involved teams. I know the latter is hard to predict but are these reasons enough to leave EY, or am I just burning bridges for no reason?

Principal from a T2 firm in SE Asia. In discussions with one of the MBB for a Sr. Principal / AP role and one of the B4 for Partner role.

I’ll try to assess the cultural fit and where do I feel better opportunities for growth & commitment from current partners. Beyond that, 2 questions from the group:

1. In short term, I anticipate that B4 Partner financial offer will be better. However, would you say that MBB partners make more in longer term?

If there’s an opening at another big 4 that’s either Director or Senior, and I am currently a Manager 2 should I go for Director even though I will be very under qualified? 🤔

Align to non-M&A offering but do a lot of work in the space (DD, integrations). B4 recruiter reached out and wants me to provide resume for review with hiring partner in M&A space. Does it work if I provide a bio with summary of M&A projects (client names removed) instead of a traditional resume? Also plan to list education and past experience but primary focus on recent M&A work

How difficult will it be to switch to the commercial consulting practice of another Big 4 firm coming from Deloitte’s Federal consulting practice?
