Any brides who had to delay or cancel their wedding due to covid want do commiserate. I’m really trying to be excited about my new date but it’s hard. 😞

Sucks- but you’re getting married-At least you have a boo. Imagine the single women trying to get the guys to take it serious over texts now🙄

My sister had to postpone her August wedding to next year. Shes sad and devastated and also grateful she got all her money back. It is sad though. It’s not about the party but the excitement towards what marriage means and getting to celebrate with your loved ones. Sending you hugs OP

My friend is ending up doing a small ceremony to still "get married" on their original date. And then doing the reception later on during the rescheduled date.

like

Yes, we considered that but at the end of the day, we’d want at least our parents and siblings there and they’re all spread out. But it definitely will happen if this goes into winter and we need to postpone a second time!

My brother had to postpone his wedding. They haven’t set a new date yet. And there is so much sh*t hitting the fan in our family for other reasons that idk when they’ll be able to do it, at least not the way they wanted to. It is really hard. I think it’s natural to still be upset and challenged to find the energy to get excited about a new date- especially since nobody knows what next month will look like ❤️❤️

Feeling very down about starting a family. My husband is finally excited about it, but I am terrified. Nobody in my area can find reliable childcare, and we can’t easily afford a nanny (I took a pay cut going in-house, and he has a non-profit salary). We could probably swing a nanny if we didn’t save for retirement for a few years, but I’m not sure that is the smartest move. Has anyone else felt this burden during covid with all the childcare problems? We have family help, but not full time.

-do you do mostly lower budgets jobs (under 100k) via in-house and farm out bigger jobs?

I had a virtual hearing yesterday. I’m a junior associate so the senior handled the talking and I was just taking notes. I had my camera on but lots of other cases were being called before mine. Half way through, I started having bandwidth issues so I turned off my camera. At the end the judge (in his 70s) mentioned that they lost me, probably because I was dealing with my kids while WFH. I don’t have kids and felt singled out as the only female on the call. Am I just being sensitive?

Maybe off-topic, but I’ve got a question related to taxes and withholding. 2020 was the first year that both me and my wife made full salaries in our high-paying jobs (she’s a pharmacist, I’m in consulting). We don’t do anything out of the ordinary to reduce our taxes, we just put ~ 6% each towards our 401k’s. No house or kids so our other deductions are limited. Just started doing taxes and got a shock that we owe big. Any others in this situation? Do you just withhold a ton extra on W4?

It’s been a rough couple months professionally for my boyfriend. The job he was at got to be toxic and draining, so was interviewing trying to get a new job, then he finally had an offer and was interviewing with another firm too. The other company would have been giving him 95k, guaranteed raises, etc. Realistically it was the type of role that would have truly changed..
