Any consultants from computer science major? Can you please share the kind of work you do..I am not a big fan of coding but want to do some level of technical work..fine with front end/UI development (not sure if this a good career choice and if there is anything at EY). I'm trying to figure out different options that technical people have in consulting other than just coding. Please provide your insights.

Was a Computer Engineering major, worked in industry for a couple years, joined Advisory App Tech and I did some Implementation work (coding) in my first client and probably doing to be doing some coding/design/arch at my second client. Your mileage may vary.

^ So was it greenfield project? What technology, platform

Greenfield?
I'm a Java guy and I asked to do front end and C# coding, what a joke 😅

Greenfield means it has never been done before. Project without code v1.0

Nope, I was brought on to do enhancements and stuff; majority of the platform was built by offshore, they just wanted an onshore coder too..

Computer Science graduate here! I am in Cyber team doing implementation work. It's the best field as I can balance between technical and business work. I a also part of speciqlist track which is different than traditional consulting.

Nice. What's the specialist track.can u shed some light on that

SC 1- Are you on a client in CLT? Guessing by the 'greenfield' terminology!

Haha no I'm on bench

Greenfield and brownfield are fairly common. Especially in tech consulting, lot of newbies prefer 'Greenfield' projects

Pwc1, nah - not a joke. both are not tooo far off and if you can't port over and be flexible, it might be an uphill battle in consulting

Esp so b/c I still get recruiter reach out for opportunities that better fit my profile.

Has anyone else gone back to relying more on public transportation with the surging Uber / Lyft prices. Trips to and from ohare are costing me about as much as the plane tickets themselves, and even simple things like meeting a friend for dinner in another neighborhood ends up costing around $80 in transportation costs. I haven’t taken buses and trains much since I’ve graduated but now it just feels like I’m throwing money out the window by not making the switch back.

Any tips for staying injury free in middle age? My body seems to be falling apart. Before Covid, I injured my shoulder in a bad fall while skiing that would have kept me off the slopes for a year if the pandemic hadn’t. Last week, I pulled my lower back, also skiing. This is all after a 6 month recovery from Achilles tendinitis that the PT said was a result of running and hiking. I’m pretty active and in decent shape, but clearly I’m doing something very wrong.
