Have a big interview tomorrow. The question I dread the most is about why you’re looking for a new job. The honest answer is that there isn’t enough work to go around at my agency and I want to get ahead of the inevitable layoffs. What’s the best way to tell them this? Do I just make something else up entirely?

Looking for respectful ways to manage helping people in need of a job or seeking mentorship. I get 3-4 requests a week from mutual contacts asking if I can connect with a former colleague (always broad). Typically the ask is a 30-45 min call. I’ve been laid off, I know how hard a time it is, but equally am working long hours, parenting and want to reserve time for those I know. How do others manage these extra calls into their weeks?

Fellow consultants, need your opinion. I am an IT generalist (worked hands on in DW/ETL in the first five years of my career). Since then I have delved in application and infrastructure audits, PMO roles, financial side of operations including outsourcing and COIs. To get better exit opportunities which areas would you suggest I should focus on? I have exposure to usage of cloud, AI/ML, ERPs and all underlying infrastructure.

I’d like to preface this post with saying I was in a very toxic relationship previously. I went to therapy, healed myself, and now feel I have found someone very healthy. He self reflects, he listens, he’s present, he makes me feel heard (mostly). With all that said, I can’t stop feeling like he’s only giving me the bare minimum. I do a lot of the small things, make sure I’m hitting all his love languages daily, and I keep feeling like he thinks he’s doing everything to keep me happy, but

For those in the US market, what are your thoughts on King & Spalding vs. Morgan Lewis. Both are corporate M&A roles.
