Any daycare tips and tricks? My baby will be 5 months when starting daycare / me going back to work

My advice is don’t overthink it. Don’t try to change baby’s schedule beforehand. Just start on day one and work out any problems as they come along. Don’t worry about whether baby will eat or nap. They’ve dealt with hundreds of babies and know what they’re doing.

I stayed home the first week my daughter went to care. I picked her up early the first day and kinda progressively eased into full day. I think it helped me more then her if we are being honest. Also gave me time to catch up on house work and such 😂 I did find a home daycare so they kept her schedule up perfectly, super thankful for that. I would say don’t stress it too much I’m sure you put a lot of time into deciding which childcare to use so you already know they will take great care of your lil one 🥰

Going back after 5 months myself here soon. This is my second time around. I’ll be starting her at school a week before I actually go back so we can ease into the routine. I’ve been working on having her fall asleep in her crib or bassinet instead of napping on me, but that definitely doesn’t happen every time. And we’ve transitioned her out of anything swaddled into a regular sleep sack, as daycare requires it. I’ve also been ordering things like an insulated bottle carrier and labels for her bottles. But honestly, I’m mostly just soaking up as much time with her as I can.

A couple of things: give yourself grace, you’ll probably cry/miss baby the first day or two, give baby grace - he/she will also probably be more fussy the first few days before settling into a routine, and lastly, don’t pick up before a feeding (I made this mistake thinking it’d be good to get my son and take him home to breastfeed - I walked in and he was hangry and losing his mind so I started bawling too)

If you can afford it, start two weeks early. My sons immune System was so weak after a year plus of isolation he got a cold for a week within a week of starting daycare. The two week ramp up could help with that.

CMV: noise canceling headphones are overrated. It blocks out the background noise and isolates annoying noises like baby crying...earplugs are far superior for traveling.

Turned in my 2 wks. EM asked me to stay for another week bc manager will be on parental leave around the same time (and sounds like EM is pressuring him as well). Should I consider at all?? Felt a bit guilty to leave the pressure on the manager…

NOT A CONFESSION! SEEKING ADVICE HERE I know therapy is useful. How do we get most out of our therapy sessions? How do we track or monitor the progress with therapy? (FYI - I have always been a nerdy kid pressurized by parents. I am finding it a little difficult to maintain and handle friendships. I have realized that dealing with emotions is important. My manager from previous company was toxic. I had a recent break up. My grandfather died last month. Recent events have taken a toll on me)

Just so much happiness and I need space to gush. My boyfriend is the most amazing man I’ve ever met. He makes me feel safe and loved and is absolutely crazy about me. We see each other a couple of times a week and it’s always super fun and peaceful and the sex and emotional connection is perfect. I’m so lucky to have met him in nyc and he tells me he feels lucky too. We’re discussing our future and having 3 kids together and I can’t wait to call him my husband and father of our gorgeous children

Any Moms who GAINED weight after pregnancy? I LOST weight during pregnancy (med advised) and was able to keep weight off and felt and looked great, but once I stopped breastfeeding, BOOMM! I’m now 25lb heavier than when I became pregnant. Anyone uses any SAFE hunger suppressant? I have minimal motivation and barely any self control during pandemic and having a really hard time getting a grip on this. Need some advice, TIA

Creatives, if I send you resources you asked for in an email or Slack and your response is to ask me send it to the PM instead, I immediately view you as a precious child. Don’t be a child.

Moms, what is the standard etiquette and timing for your parents to come help out when you have a new born? I am due in April and we live in a small 2 bedroom apartment in NYC. Every one in the family wants to come to NYC and help when the baby is here and I’m grateful but I don’t want to get too overwhelmed trying to host people in this small space. I was thinking my parents could come for a couple weeks, leave and then my siblings can take turns? Thank you! Any advice will be appreciated

Any pregnant people, have to have awkward conversations with friends about not hanging out? My bff is an amazing person and loves my 2 year old to death; but she’s also out a bars and living life as if it’s normal. She doesn’t know I’m pregnant yet, and is asking for moving help and sleepovers and stuff. Of course I want to help her any way I can, but am also slightly worried about being around her due to covid and being pregnant ..

Did anyone's brains just stop working while pregnant? I'm 13 weeks and can only manage to work half days. I'll sit at my computer for 12 hours and bill only 3-4 hours instead of my standard 8-10. I have work to do, but zero motivation or availability to focus unless there's a looming deadline. Does this phase pass? Did this happen to anyone else?

Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!
