Any experience exiting from associate level to director level in industry?

Has anyone made the move from cyber security at the Big4 to cyber security for media companies? For example Disney or Warner Bros.

How did you manage it?

Moving on from news: after 12 years in the industry, I am exploring corporate comms positions in the financial, pharma, and retail industries. My skills range from content creation, emerging technology, streaming, social media, digital marketing, digital strategy, UX and public relations/crisis communications. But I’m having a hard time convincing hiring managers that my “non-traditional” background translates to marketing/comms roles. How do you break into corp world from journalism?

Just got into a full time grad program for international affairs that starts in January of 2021. (completely changing careers). I need to stay working at my firm until then and possible after to get the billable hours for my CPA. Recently obtained my aPHR and I’m considering next steps in advancing my career. I am eligible to sit for the SHRM-CP presently and will not be able to sit for a PHR until 09/2023. Any pros/cons with either certification? Should I wait to sit for PHR or go for SHRM-CP now?

I will say this I love working with the students . I love getting to know them . I smile to myself when I go to work . I still feel this way after last week being asked my three different people about doing something where I told them that I was not going to do. following day I was then ambushed by admin (where I have never felt more like nothing. I need to vent. I officially feel DEFEATED in my job search. I’ve been searching for over two years! I’ve had a handful of interviews with companies that don’t come close to my currently salary. I made it all the way through Meta and Amazon interview loops and I didn’t make the cut. Those hurt bad as both those companies require all day interview sessions. A total of 10 interviews at each company. I feel I may never get out of consulting 😢
