Any experience with part-time MBA? Was it useful?

this question gets asked all the time and i’m considering full time vs part time as well so let me be a fb hero and save everyone else some time, at least for the objective stuff: pros of part time MBA: 1) don’t have to quit your job and go massively in debt 2) learn the same things as full time MBA from the same professors 3) can be easier to get into than full time MBA cons of part time MBA: 1) no summer internship. this is a huge one because this is how the most prestigious companies decide whom to hire in the early stages of their careers. get a summer internship and don’t fuck it up and you have a 90+% chance of getting a full-time offer. 1 year programs are at a similar disadvantage for this reason. 2) longer and not easier than full time MBA - typically takes 3 years, while you still juggle work commitments and your outside life. you will have very little free time for those 3 years. 3) fewer networking (i.e. partying) opportunities with people who are likely going to be able to help you out down the road. all that said, at the end of the day, your piece of paper is the same and you’re just as qualified as a full time MBA grad. the FB consensus is that employers largely think the same but that it may be more difficult to get your foot in the door because you might miss out on the recruiting opportunities toward which the FT programs are more geared. PT programs are sometimes more geared toward the “working professional” who wants to advance in their current career, whereas FT programs typically offer a better chance at switching careers. you will find people on here that work at MBB, who are PPMD at large firms, etc, with part-time MBAs (or none at all).

SC1 pretty much hit it on the head. The only area I would deviate from is that there are pedigree programs that offer part-time and executive formats that run concurrent to the full-time programs (i.e., 21-22 months). Moreover, while the summer internship is important for the “text book” full-time MBA, they are entry points for entry level positions, therefore if you find yourself ahead of an entry level position, and don’t desire a lateral move or demotion, the part-time or EMBA might make more sense. Good luck!!!

One more pro of part time or executive MBA: classmates work for desirable employers, and can be excellent resources for informational interviews and referrals.

Is there anyone at the manager level or above that hasn't installed work email / phone software on their phone? I've never had a reason to use my phone for work because most of my time as a senior has been during wfh. I'd like to delay the inevitable for as long as possible and curious if anyone at the higher levels has somehow managed to avoid this.
