Any fellow attorneys out here with any chronic conditions? I suffer from chronic migraines and that is under control, but have been suffering from chronic fatigue. It can be very depressing and lonely. Work makes it worse since some days I move slower and my brain is slower. Hoping I'm not the only one. Currently planted on the couch w fatigue.
I do. I suffer from severe sleep apnea and get these kinds of symptoms. I would look into this if you haven’t already. Regulating diet and exercise helps a lot for me.
I have chronic pain and associated fatigue and headaches. The flexibility to work from home has been helpful when I need to lay down and physically can’t sit at my desk to work. But it’s really hard to manage. Stress is the most aggravating factor, and this career is just too stressful for me to do long term. It’s a vicious cycle - the bad pain days make me less productive, and inability to get work done increases stress, which causes pain flare ups. I wish I had a good answer for you, just sympathy and hoping you feel a little less alone. Chronic health conditions are so isolating and exhausting.
I haven't ever told my employers about this. I honestly have no idea how to even tell them as him hoping to get this under control. If the cause of my chronic fatigue turns out to be more serious then I'm gonna have to.
That's awful. Thaw symptoms are so awful and draining. So my labs showed mega low b12 and would explain why I've felt like shit on and off the last 2 years. Taking injections but they are not helping, so I'm worried I have something else. I'm not allowed to work out now bc my levels are so low, but I'm hoping to get back on that. I do find diet a big part. My issue is I get into a fatigue cycle where I'm too tired to exercise or cook and order bad food. I've gotten better but still have some days where I wake up feeling like I got hit by a truck so have a poor breakfast and lunch.
How often do you get B12 injections? With neuro symptoms like migraines it’s supposed to be every day (for cyanocobalamin) or every other day (for hydroxycobalamin) until no further improvements. 5mg folic acid supplement daily and high potassium (food only) as they are co-factors. Have you joined the Pernicious Anemia and B12 Deficiency Support Group on facebook?
I suffer from depression, and it has a strong seasonal component. When I’m not properly medicated, I can turn into a lethargic mess. It’s hard to concentrate. I’m tired all the time, and it’s very difficult to motivate. I just do the best I can. And carry on.
That's horrible I'm so sorry. I totally feel you on the lethargic mess. The days I feel so bad I can't do anything for myself and can barely get myself off the couch.
You’re not. I have the same issue. Some days I feel helpless. The migraines result in fatigue. I have been seeing a chiropractor and getting stretches and that helps tremendously
I'm glad to hear that has been helping. I've found that stretching my shoulders, neck and back throughout the day can help. I take a monthly injection called Emgality that has really helped with my migraine. But some days my posture is bad and that can trigger one or stress triggers it
Chronic shoulder, neck, arm, and hand pain due to degenerative disc disease. I’m only 34. Trying to deal with it, but some days are just horrible.
And yes a good setup! That does go a long way

If you can’t be “on” 8-5 M-F that’s not a deal breaker per se. But you’ll need to find 8 hours at some point in the day. If now isn’t working, go do something else that you need to take care of. Clean, go grocery shopping, get in a workout, meal prep, etc.

Try early arrival and either longer lunch or early departure
I have chronic fatigue and migraines related to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. I also have IBD, which, on top of all the GI distress, can worsen the fatigue. On top of that, I have diagnosed ADHD. So, I definitely know where you're coming from -- it can be incredibly hard sometimes.
For me, the biggest things that has helped is medication. I take a few medications. Depending on the cause of your problems, that is worth considering.
Otherwise, and I know this won't work for everyone, but large amounts of caffeine can sometimes give me enough of a boost to break out of a fatigue episode to get what I need to do done.
Which I'm inclined to think it's more than b12 since I should be feeling better by now and I've felt this way on and off for 2 years
