ADHD Consultants

Any female ADHD Consultants here? I’ve never been diagnosed but have a bit of suspicion. From what little research I’ve done, seems much harder to diag in women since there’s no clear phenotype.

Diagnosis helps tremendously. Started valuing what I’m good at. Stopped beating my head against the wall of trying to be good at the ‘simple boring things’. Meds also help so that I’m not spending so much energy just to start or stop things. Feels like a strong cup of coffee.

Had been seeing a therapist for anxiety and she really honed in on me beating myself up with the messages I heard from others - you’re smart but are lazy, you get bored so easily, etc etc

Diagnosed in my 40’s when I suspected my son had it. We both got diagnosed in the same year. We have two different types though. Mines inattentive, and his is hyperactive. I feel like inattentive is harder to diagnose.

I think that’s me too. I’ve really struggled this year, like hitting a wall.
