Interviewing at McKinsey from a big 4 consulting firm - currently an engagement manager interviewing for an engagement manager role on the partner track - comp at big 4 is currently $165k base, what’s a reasonable amount to ask for at mck? I got an Ivy League exec mba in 2020 as well, which hasn’t yet been reflected in my big 4 comp (we mostly didn’t do raises because of covid last year). Trying to understand how much higher mck might be willing to go?
here's my prediction. If Biden wins, the media will begin to message the following; -The worst COVID risks and outcomes are to people with identifiable risk factors such as obesity and diabetes. -Most other people who catch it will experience a bad flu. -Many other people who catch it won't even know they have it. -It's not commonly transmitted by touching objects and person to person transmittal is low risk except in close contact. The media will then message that we should; (cont'd)
Feeling hopeless today professionally. I’ve tried to trooper on throughout this pandemic but today it all caught up to me. Exhausted, mentally drained and just so negative. Feel like all I do is work since covid. Have tried to set boundaries but it’s impossible when people can reach out on my cell. Get taken advantage of regularly for trying to do what right thing to support my teams. I like my job but I don’t know that I can keep this pace and that adds stress too
I’m confusion... I started to count calories/macros to lose weight. Roughly 211... started at like 24/2500 for a 1.5 months.. didnt lose a Lb. Dropped down to 2200 for last 2 weeks...haven’t lost a LB. Working out / cardio 5-6x a week. Sleep is good and stress level ok (outside of the covid norms). Any tips or suggestions?
In case this helps anyone in here who doesn’t already know. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. https://nypost.com/2020/04/03/how-hungry-nyc-residents-can-get-free-meals-amid-coronavirus/
People are saying it’s rare to get covid if you’re vaccinated (most recently 1 in 1000 breakthrough cases for MA) but isn’t that directly attributable to far less testing done now? I can understand it’s rare to be at risk for hospitalization, but do we really know how many people are asymptomatic and still spreading?
Second year lateraling to a new firm and changing practice group - do I have any ground to stand on as far as negotiating bonuses? (Signing, Covid, year end, etc.)
Those of you who are waiting or opposed to the COVID vaccine - do you feel obligated to divulge your true vaccine status to restaurants, employers, etc.?
Has anyone started scheduling mental health days? How did your team react to it? With COVID, people are just taking less PTO and a once a month day off sounds really nice to me right now.
What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too
Health care is being rationed in several states. This is getting serious. This is definitely worth learning more about as hospital refuse critically ill patients who do not have covid. Emergency rooms are literally flooded, critically ill pts (w covid) wait hours on end in their car to get in to see a doctor. What a MESS https://www.adn.com/nation-world/2021/09/13/alabama-man-dies-after-being-rejected-by-43-hospitals-in-3-states-family-says-as-covid-packs-icus/ https://www.marketwatch.com/amp/story/alaska-joins-idaho-in-rationing-health-care-as-hospitals-are-packed-with-covid-patients-and-who-says-africa-is-being-left-behind-in-vaccine-push-11631717516 https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2021/09/14/amid-covid-19-overload-providence-alaska-medical-center-now-prioritizing-care-under-crisis-standards/

Another lie from our car-salesman President. He just said we had the “largest testing capacity in the world”, and that “nobody’s done a better job at testing...” but we can’t test 100 Senators to keep the government running. https://www.axios.com/senate-doctor-mitch-mcconnell-coronavirus-testing-e99282f6-90f5-4e11-8b45-02548f38ab12.html
Hey guys. I’m the event planner for CLSA at my law school and was wondering if anybody is willing to be on a panel regarding ethics during the coronavirus regarding the way confidential information is sent and received, how you guys use zoom for depositions or any ethical challenges you’ve come across during this time. Thank you!

Tone-deaf response from the left wing Democratic mayor of D.C., who was speaking near the place a 17 year old had just been shot to death. "Mayor Muriel Bowser, speaking to reporters near the scene of the shooting, noted that public drinking and marijuana use outside were prohibited, as were gatherings of more than 50 people as a precaution against spreading the coronavirus. “It’s very important that as a community we have a zero-tolerance for this activity,” https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/dc-shooting-leaves-dead-20-injured-72269085
HELP! Roommate is being insistent on not allowing either of us to go out due to covid (except for groceries). We live in Chicago, and phase 4 is starting in a few wks meaning most places will re-open with limited capacity. I’m not trying to go crazy here and hit up every club/restaurant/public place. But I’d like to enjoy a meal out or a small gathering at a friend’s place, things like that (w/ all proper precautions in place) but roommate is not cool with it -how to approach?
What’s market for signing bonuses (excluding Covid and year-end bonuses) for mid-to-senior associates at V25 firms?
COVID life has got me in some major frump. What cute clothes are you guys wearing? Looking to update a bit for spring. Still anticipating to be mostly at home though through summer if not longer.
SoFi Stadium in LA, opening in 2020 (MSP-LAX)
I was recently let go. When I interview, should I be upfront about this, or should I keep it vague — “looking for new opportunities”? It seems like it will come up when people ask why I’m leaving.
Recommendations for a good webcam for Zoom meetings? My laptop camera isn’t cutting it anymore.
College awkward conversation starter "where you from, what's your major?" has just morphed into Management Consulting with "so what project are you on?" Does anyone actually care when they ask that?
If you have 10+ yrs of investment history, I’d love to hear ur POV: Starting my own investments beyond 401k. Appreciate advice on strategies, top sites, blogs, podcasts, etc. What worked and cont.
Can anyone speak the the human capital practices at their firm? I'm currently in HC consulting and want to continue working in the field, but not sure what opportunities there are in MBB.
Looking for book recommendations (non fiction) - leadership, management or science/world related
Curious the pay difference. What general pay range (US) can someone with 3-5 years of PMO/functional consulting for SAP S4HANA Cloud & On Prem experience expect at a big 4 firm with an MBA(not that having the MBA matters a ton)?
Desi ppl , struggling a bit with verbal communication since I moved to US. Sometimes can’t find words during client meeting so do a lot of ‘aaa’s , ‘Kind of’s and ‘sort of’. How can I improve it? I do watch English series a lot and read books but looking for other ideas that may have helped you all . Are there are classes which helps with fluency ?

What are your predictions for travel in the “new normal”? Can’t see myself wanting to stay much longer if it’s more than a week a month.
Should you consider MBA as experience while doing salary negotiation? Note:- HR always says MBA will just give a small advantage over other candidates. For HR, MBA is piece of paper which you get by studying 6 hrs
Federal MBB🐠, were you given the opportunity to work any commercial projects your 1st year with the firm (if desired)? Had a final round years ago but friend advised me to stop the process given passion was retail. At the time switching practices was unheard of, have the times changed? Bridges never burned, debating re-kindle conversations...
Prepping for my first Zoom call of the day...
MBB 🐠: I’ve got 3yrs consulting experience at IBM (agile exp.), state school for undergrad, CSM and secret clearance. Do I have a shot at associate at MBB or do I absolutely need to pursue MBA first?
I am a business consultant and work with technology teams. I cannot code to save my life and I cannot replace business. I have been applying for jobs for months now but no one will bite. Not even an interview.
