Need advice, if anyone can offer. I recently got a new manager but need to have a difficult conversation. I work in Fin Services and took the role I'm in specifically to get licensed with my Series SIE/6/63 and have been studying on my own. Some assocs start licensing day 1 of the job. I've been on the phones for nearly a year without getting licensed and just found out I'm not going to be in the next licensing. How do I bring this up? Or do I look elsewhere?

How much should an institutional analyst (in an asset management firm) be making in total compensation? 7 YOE

Those who have worked on both the retail and RIA side, which do you prefer and recommend and for what reason. Currently at an RIA and fielding offers from a retail bank and a larger RIA.

There are two job openings with a company I would die to work for. I have the experience required for the higher paying position but I believe it will be very competitive. The other position is a step lower, still great salary and I’m definitely qualified but would rather have the other position. So, I am a high performer and had to cover for two very senior roles for many months due to quick high turnover. We already had our talks. I found it funny when I was told, “oh and by the way… as you can see we increased your bonus to thank you for covering for so and so.” $500 increase………. Am I silly to think this “thank you” increase is a joke? No salary increase and only $500 thank you for covering for two additional jobs. Am I unreasonable to think the work I covered for wasn’t appreciated?

What’s the best resource for learning about asset management/the investment world. Like an “asset management for dummies” type of thing. I just got into the asset management sector after being in the mortgage industry for a decade. It’s been so long since I’ve learned all the different investments/terms so I’m a little lost.
