I do, but it was how I started my career. Good background for your the corporate retirement plan space where I use my Series 65. Also work the corporate employee benefit market.
I do. I’d say it has made a difference but I’m early on in my FA career. I went to grad school and got my CPA experience when I knew I wanted to switch careers. So it was a 1.5 year detour for grad school in accounting and a 1.5 year detour for the actual exam process. It’s allowed me to increase revenues by being able to prepare returns and I think clients/prospects appreciate the additional expertise that comes with having actually worked for a CPA firm for several years instead of just saying “go talk to your CPA”
In NY it's hard because even if you meet the education requirements and are good at taking tests you have to work for a CPa for a year FT or two PT
Michigan is 2 years along with Required annual CE to maintain license to practice.
Just hire one...much easier.
